I was browsing through the Sporting News NFL preview mag. Now TSN hardly ever wrote much good about us. They had us picked to win the division at 12-4, ahead of the 10-6 Saints. After all these years, getting this respect feels good.
mrobinson3803
Feels good to be getting some respect even if its not from tha big boys in the sporting world (espn and nfl network). Who cares most of the time they get it wrong anyway. This is gonna be a great year for the Falcons. Cant wait to win that Lombardi. GO FALCONS 2010!!! ki46dinah
Considering we have spent 17 picks on defense in the past 3 drafts....I think our defense will be coming around nicely very, very soon.Average age of projected defensive starters next season = 26.5 years of age
texasbirdfan
Respect? LOL The facts are one thing and betting odds are another- but respect? It is not here yet. Respect comes when the NFL fans say it. And they listen to the critics too much still....

Herr Doktor
Respect? LOL The facts are one thing and betting odds are another- but respect? It is not here yet. Respect comes when the NFL fans say it. And they listen to the critics too much still....I agree. We haven't gotten the respect I want to see. And that comes from smacking another team in the mouth. One with a great record. Until we pound aa Indianapolis Colts, or New Orleans Saints we haven't gotten there yet. We need their fans to come on this board and tell us they are not worthy. Until then, every thing else is nice, its just not "Respect respect" as yet.

GTFalcon25
I think we all value the opinions of sportscasters too much. Especially in the offseason when there is very little to do as a football fan other than watch USA disappoint in the World Cup, 70-68 fifth sets, and the Braves getting swept by the other Chicago team. I think what I'm getting at, is that respect from commentators in no way changes the course of your season. It doesn't win or lose games. It doesn't win championships. It just makes you feel warm and fuzzy in between the draft and training camp. So, let's just be patient and see what our team can actually do. Supes™
We usually dont play well when we are expected to win. There have been many years where we underachieved & we usually play our best as the underdogsThere's no need to fear:
JKH5785
NFL Network and ESPN won't give this team respect until it shows that it can be a consistent playoff contender. Finally putting back to back winning seasons together was a start. From the way I understood the "RISE UP" campaign, it was suppose to put our franchise on the forefront of the media, making it more widely promoted across the country. In the State of the Franchise they talked about our team being handpicked by the NFL, yet still the NFL Network is putting the same coverage out there that they have been for a few years now. Unless it becomes more prevalent as the season comes near and progresses, I still say that the respect will come from being a consistent playoff contender. russ7000
my concern is that everyone still has Respect at the end of the season. the hawks had respect as well till they layed an egg in the playoffs, im still getting over that one......
