Torrence Hatch, a rapper known by his stage name "Lil Boosie," has been indicted by a Louisiana grand jury in connection with a shooting death last year.

The grand jury in East Baton Rouge Parish indicted Hatch, who has performed frequently in the Atlanta area, on first-degree murder charges in the Oct. 21 shooting death of Terry Boyd, WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge reports. Hatch, 27, is already in prison for a probation violation.

Boyd, 35, was shot to death inside his home, detectives told the station.

Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore told WAFB that Hatch could receive the death penalty if convicted.

Hatch was also indicted on drug and conspiracy charges. He is facing three counts of possession with intent to distribute codeine, ecstasy and marijuana. Hatch is also facing three counts of conspiracy to commit possession with intent to distribute narcotics and two counts to introduce contraband into a penal institution.

Two other men, Michael Louding, 17, and Adrian Pittman, 36, were also indicted for first-degree murder in connection with the Oct. 21 incident. The indictments are apart of an ongoing investigation of multiple shootings in the Baton Rouge area over the past two years. Hatch's girlfriend, Wanita Decuir, 25, faces the same drug charges as him. Police are still looking for her.

Joshua Wilson, 27, is indicted in connection with the same drug investigation. He was a prison guard at Hunt Correctional Institute in St. Gabriel, where Hatch is incarcerated.

In September, Hatch pleaded guilty to drug and gun charges after a sheriff's deputy seized a bag and cigar containing marijuana and confiscated a gun from his car. He was sentenced to two years in prison. Hatch's sentenced was doubled while on house arrest when he violated the terms of his release.

I did like this heartfelt " shout out" on one site, tho.

"****, first Plaxico, then TI, then Wayne…. who’s next? Black stars, this aint you all’s year at all. Hold your head though, potna."

If only we knew why it wasn't their year. If only we knew how circumstances from without their control conspired to put them in prison. Such sadness. :(
