Unknøwn
The Braves have recalled right-hander Chris Resop from Triple-A Gwinnett, facing a Tuesday deadline to either put him on the major league roster, trade him or allow other teams a 72-hour window to sign him.Resop’s agent B.B. Abbott said Resop was notified on Tuesday morning and will be in uniform with the Braves for their opener against the Rays Tuesday night. The Braves have not announced an impending move, but it will likely be either Craig Kimbrel or Jesse Chavez going down to Gwinnett.Resop, 27, is a reclamation project of sorts. He is a former power-throwing reliever who reached the majors with the Marlins, Angels and Braves but to minimal success. After spending a year in Japan and adding a two-seam fastball, he has transformed himself into a successful starter.Resop went 5-2 with a 1.84 ERA in 13 starts for Gwinnett. He was leading the International in ERA, was tied for the lead in WHIP (1.00) and third in strikeouts with 87.“It’s been a long journey for him,” said Abbott, who has represented Resop since he was drafted by the Marlins in 2001.Abbott said the Braves did field some trade offers for Resop but ultimately decided teams weren’t offering enough.“I know they got offers,” Abbott said. “But they thought he could help the club at least initially. Once (Jair) Jurrjens and (Takashi) Saito come back, they’ll have a decision to make.”Abbott said he wasn’t sure what role the Braves would use him in initially.Resop is out of options, and if the Braves try to send him back to the minors when either of those pitchers returns from the disabled list, he’d have to clear waivers first and would likely end up with another team.In the mean time though, “this could potentially increase his trade value,” Abbott said. “Maybe they want to showcase him.”
JTRaines92
I just seen it over at BN, I hope Chaves goes down instead of Kimbrel.
K26dp
They'll need to make a 40-man roster move as well.
Ransack
Dunn needs to come up with him.
K26dp
Dunn needs to come up with him.Problem is, we don't need another lefty right now with O'Flaherty and Venters pitching well.I'd rather Dunn pitch regularly in AAA than sit at the end of the bullpen in Atlanta.
