Compensation Before Contracts

Can someone explain to me how new drafted and or free agent players are compensated during this period of time before signing contracts or making the team. I'm sure there has to be some type compensation and health care coverage? Just wondering.

they probably have some sort of insurance if they get hurt but they do not receive money until the contract.... Thats what i think... Undrafted FA's already signed contracts so its basically drafted players...

Also these guys basically have money coming so getting a loan or an agent loaning a player some money is easy to get.

Money is not an issue...

As JBO said,

Once they sign with an agent, that agency loans them money. The agent has an idea of where the player will be draft most times.

I remember when I was college one of the players on our team was a high recruit, and before the draft he signed with an agent, and next thing you know he was driving a new Land Rover fully loaded around campus.
