Color me surprised if Medlen misses the start. This was taken from Bowman's blog on Wednesday...a day after Medlen's slide:

PHOENIX -- Kris Medlen impressed the Braves with the athleticism he displayed while reaching around D-backs catcher John Hester's tag in the sixth inning of Tuesday night's win. But more importantly, the right-handed hurler gave them a sense of relief when he awoke on Wednesday without any concerning discomfort in the left shoulder that he incurred with the slide.

"It's just a little tight in the back of my shoulder," Medlen said. "I'm fine. "At first, I thought it was serious, but it's just like a little stinger. My right shoulder feels good."

Medlen plans to complete his normal in-between starts exercises in preparation for Sunday afternoon's start against the Twins. He still feels somewhat embarrassed by the fact that he was forced to make an immediate exit from Tuesday night's game with an injury to his non-throwing shoulder.

They may opt to go with another starter (Resop maybe?). But if they do, it will be because they are just playing it safe to give him extra rest, and not because he is injured.

Anyway, tough, tough series. We will face some really tough pitching. I say we go 1 of 3, but would love to take 2 of them.

Medlen (shoulder) has a mild strain of the left rotator cuff, but he still expects to make his next scheduled start on Sunday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Fortunately, it was his non-pitching shoulder, so it appears as though Medlen and the Braves will come away from this incident with a minor scare.

Unless something changes in the next couple of days, I think he'll make his start.

I expect Medlen to start but if not I would guess Venters it would be either that or give a call to Parr since Resop won't be fully rested and I would much rather Venters make it if Medlen cant

Parr just had reconstructive surgery on his elbow.

The G-Brave who's scheduled to go that night is Jose Ortegna.

i'm startin to worry about the mets. they get the cakewalk orioles and we get a tough twins team.

The Mets play the Yankees x2, Orioles, Indians, Tigers, and Twins

The Braves play the Twins, Rays, Royals, Tigers, and White Sox... and we got an extra series with the Pirates this season to fill out the schedule.

Plus the Mets are handicapped by still having Jeff Franceour on their roster, so we win there as well.

I'm just laughing at the Phillies: Boston x2 (already played and lost one series), Yankees, Twins, Blue Jays, and Indians. Hopefully they get swept a couple of times. Halladay is facing the Yankees so it's not going to be a normal dominating game for him like it is against the NL.

not sure if we win with those series against those al teams. the orioles and indians are both bad teams. we have to play the twins and the rays.

but hopefully we play good baseball in this series

I was just comparing the schedules between the Braves and the Mets. The Mets have it worse, even with the O'd and the Tribe on their schedule. We counter with the Pirates and the Royals. We both play the Twins and Tigers. And the Mets have to play the Yankees twice, while we face the Rays and the White Sox. The Rays are definitely at least as good as the Yankees, but the Braves are a better team than the White Sox.

This should be a good series. As usual, I don't have much hope for Lowe's start, but I like our chances with Hudson and Medlen.
