Photofalcon
Was wondering what people thought about what Michael Fabiano said about Michael Turner, and how only 3 running backs have ever reached the yardage total they had in their 370+ carry seasons, again in their entire careers. I don't think that it has to be, but that does kinda make me nervous.
Abe
He is like a diesel. The more you work him the better he gets. Even having an off year he still had 10 touchdowns. That is amazing.
unconquered.
Turner isn't going to be getting the same yardage any more. His carries are going to be reduced after the showing Snelling put on last season.
McSpanker
And Matt Ryan throwing more. If Turner can reach 1,700 yarda again, Then he'll have to average like 10 yards a carry. The reason They never reach it again, is because it is always a really high number, cause they had alot of carries. If would actually be weird if alot of Runningbacks got higher than their 370+ carry season
Toronto_Dirty_Bird
Turner will be fine, with Snelling taking some of the carries, He'll be healthier longer and be able to hit harder
TdotFalcon
He will have a great season, he even admitted that after that huge campaign in 2008 that he didn't workout enough, and came into camp in 09 fat. He has worked hard this offseason and will come out like a train
Falcons 'til Death
Though it'll be nice if he were to get 1700 yards again it's not the yard stick in judging if a back is elite. 1000 yards+ consistently year in year out is enough to call a RB elite and I think Turner is up to the challenge. King ED
He was on his way to having a better season than what he had in 2008. Less yards, but more TDs and a higher YAC on around 300ish carries. Any RB in the NFL would have been injured had they had their ankle squashed like he did.
FalconBlood
His ankle had a fluke injury.. He's good for 1,200 and 10 TD's this year.. Xfactor?? Get him involved in the screen and passing game! Passing to mactrucks can only help Ryan's growth!
Lowcountry Falcon
i don't want turner having to have 1700 yards in a season again. That would be a sign of relying too much on the run, and not unleashing the passing attack. I'd be happy with 1,200 yards and 10-12 TDs. With Norwood (hopefully) and Snelling emerging as a threat
NyAtlantaFalconsFan4Life
Turner will be back to 08 form this year those backs that got hit with the "370 curse" were full time starters when they came in the league turner is just becoming a starter he has a good couple of season left
Lowcountry Falcon
that's nonsense '98 falcons had an 1800 yard back and two 1000 yard receivers. grantid the running back died the next year.aslong as our defense gets off the field.bingo
muskokas finest ©
We don't want him at an exhausted 1700 yards, but a fresh, playoff ready 1200.

Beezy
The funny thing about the "370 curse" is that it goes beyond the following year. Only 3 running backs of the 22 that rushed 370+ times have ever made it back to the same production of that year for the rest of their career. Guys like Shaun Alexander, Ricky Williams, Larry Johnson are those that struggled..... I don't think Turner is part of that group! We don't have to have Turner run the ball that much. He carried a young quarterback and poor defense in 2008. Turner himself admitted his poor conditioning going into the 2009 season, and has addressed that this year coming into OTA's in great shape. We need more effective rushes to open up the passing game. We should have an extremely balanced offense this year with great depth. I say Turner will have around 250-270 carries with about 1200 yards..... 15+ TD's. JKH5785
curse is BS. Turner would have returned last year if they hadn't tried rushing him back from his injury too soon and letting him reinjure it.
living404
I'm expecting us to be well ahead in the 4th quarter of alot of games this year! I'd like to see Snelling in there during garbage time when we're eating up the clock to save some wear on Turner...
AutoMax
Just keep those Carolina Clowns away from his ankle and he should be fine. Players taking a hit out on someone isn't cool.
MattyIce07
It's also important to consider just how much of a task reaching that level of production is in the first place. Keep in mind that a 1,600 yard season is 16 games starting, averaging 100 yards a game. That is a really tough number to hit as a running back, especially with other talented backs on the team that also get touches. Barry Sanders eclipsed 1,600 twice ever...the '94 season and then that magical '97 season where he got 2,053 yds on 335 carries. Names like Eddie George and Marshall Faulk never even saw a 1,600 yard season. So just keep it all in perspective. The part of the curse I still can't figure out is the injuries...one could cite overly stressed bodies due to the numerous carries from the previous season but gosh it's awfully consistent. LADBABY
The curse? No, just a lot of things came togetherfor backs to get that many carries in the first place.Normal seasons don't put the ball in any one playershands that much. We had a lot to play for in 2008 andan offensive coordinator who likes to pound the rock.He is more likely to spread the ball around this yearbut Turner will get plenty of touches.
