  1. 1. What will our Defense rank 2010?

Could be anywhere from 5-25 depending on how injuries shake out. I think we could definately have a top-10 defense if everyone is productive and healthy, but some key injuries could send us back into the 20's...

That's a pretty wide range. I hope the Injury Bug doesn't show up anywhere in Georgia this season. If that does happen I think we have enough quality depth and experience to bouy our defense into the teens.

If we can get all of our pieces fitting together, then there's no doubt we can be top 10. Having said that, I dont think we will be all there. Injuries happen, mistakes happen, I'm guess 11-13. We will be stout in the run like always, but our pass D is still unproven. Id LOVE to see us improve greatly in our pass D, because this is slowly and steadily becoming a pass first league in my opinion. So we need to step our game up.

8th against the run, 16th against the pass imo. That should leave us in the low teens overall, maybe even break into the top-10.

Did you know that for the last half of the year, we were Top 3 in the NFL against the run(I think #1 actually, maybe 2). We were also #1 in yards per carry allowed. This includes shutting down the #1 rushing team in the NFL in their own house. :)

Yes, infact I was the one who mentioned that in the forum. Over the last 7 games, we were #1 in YPC allowed. iirc, we only let an average of 3.1 during that period. Reason I don't think we're a top-5 rush D team is because we'll be playing a lot of run-first teams which is going to obscure that stat. We're going to face the Steelers who would probably be running the ball without Roethlisger. Same with Cardinals. Rams too. 49ers, maybe. But we also play against, imo, the best RB duo in the NFL with the Panthers. Saints have a very good run blocking OLine group and Thomas gives me fits.

The only pass-happy team we'll be facing is the Packers and Saints. Maybe we'll do a little better against the pass but I don't want to get too optimistic. I'd be happy with a top-16 D this year.

You left out Cincy and the Iggles. Palmer is entering his 8th season and averages 30 pass attempts per game. Plus he has a new toy in Gresham. Look for them to take a step back this year against a brutal schedule but not due to a lack of passing.

Kolb/Vick/??? will try to prove they can be the man in Philly, I think whoever starts will throw the ball as well with Andy Reid calling the shots.

Flacco will be forced to pass because Ray Rice will be a not produce against our D. Matt Ryan will prove indubitably who is the best QB of the 2007 Draft.
