matty72780
Whats up fellow Falcon fans! It's my 30th Bday towards the end of July, and a pretty decent group of us are all looking to do a group trip (8-10 people). I've really done no traveling so I'm assuming some people on here have been to New Orleans and hope Austin, TX. I know its going to be hot as heck both places but I'm assuming more humid in the swamp than TX. I picture the girls in NO to be missing teeth, not comb their hair, etc... TX girls are insanely hot but Austin is such a big college town that I think it wont be as crowded. So what do you guys think? 4 nights in New Orleans, or 4 nights in Austin, TX? Thanks for any help/advice.
CraigSmackDaddy
Why Texas or NO? Seems like strange destinations unless you've got free room and board at both?
Bucman™®
I've been to NO, dont go... Although that was in 2006, so things aren't the same.
matty72780
Why Texas or NO? Seems like strange destinations unless you've got free room and board at both?I live in Baltimore, MD so were all coming from the NorthEast, I really have no desire to go anywhere North of me, I've been to FLA a million times so thats out, Vegas with a group of dudes would cost thousands because we would have to get a table/VIP at any club if we expected to actually get in, and my gambling while drunk is probably the worst two combinations possible. I looked up best cities to visit and the was a 1-100 party ranking, New Orleans was #3 and Austin was #4, plus my buddy lives in Austin and says that place is off the hook! I like the south since thats where all my family is and from but I figured a bunch more people on this board would have been to NO then people in Maryland where I live. Tandy
I've been to both - and frankly, it just depends on what you like.New Orleans near Bourbon Street has good food, good music - lots of parties. However, you have to be careful - the area can be dangerous for sure. Also - I believe Louisiana has a lot more to offer outside of that area of New Orleans - there are some beautiful areas - and it's not as crime laden. Either way - there is a lot to do there - but you just need to be aware of the surroundings - and frankly - you might be better off staying a little ways away - not only because of the quality of the hotels, but the pricing.Austin is a pretty cool (no pun intended)area as well. Lot to do and the area is quite nice. Not as scary as Bourbon Street if you go out alone, that's for sure. Pricing is high though - just like downtown New Orleans, but the partying is great - and the area is just nicer, to be honest. (Unless you travel outside the direct Bourbon Street area of New Orleans - it's really quite nice)If you have a little time and the means - why not just visit both? Jaymadd
TATFJ/K but I have never been to Austin, and I am wondering what is in Austin that you would want to go, when I hear Austin all i think about it Cowboys LOL
SetzerFalcon
New Orleans is a great city as long as you're reasonably careful. Like most major cities the tourist areas are the safest areas, and if you're looking for a good time I doubt you'll want to go too far away from Bourbon Street. If you walk around outside keep an eye on your wallet, there's plenty of people that still get by down there from pickpocketing. Otherwise you'd be fine.Austin is a city I love, though. The people are genuine and nice, and it really doesn't have a "big city" feel at all. On top of that, it has the best music in the world as far as I'm concerned -- country twang without Music Row's bullcrap. You can't go wrong either way. A friend of mine went to Austin and said it was great. Never been to either. I went to Cancun last year though and it was a lot of fun....not really that expensive either. Would have cost us more to go to Vegas then it did going there and that's including the plane tickets.Happy early b-day. I turned 30 in March. Went to Destin for my 30th, free room and board....
