Adema1226
Guess I gave it away... but I thought it was very interesting. Jerious Norwood led the NFL in yards per carry in 2007 - with 6 yards a carry.Just thought I'd point this out to the people who want to trade/release Norwood and all that mess. He had one injury prone season, but he's been fine all his career, and is obviously a valuable asset.Edit:Thought I'd also add that Roddy White was 5th in the NFL in terms of yardage. Interesting stats from our "worst" season ever. Edited May 13, 2010 by Adema1226
zigg zagg
those 'games started' stats are skewed because they dont consider all the times he got dinged up the first or second time he got on the field. if you really watch the falcons week in and week out you'd know he is not durable at all and has missed more time than a little. CHOCTHEFALCONFAN™
Big Norwood fan here and glad he's back! - But its 2010! the past is behind us he just needs to come out and do him forget what everybody else is talking about! Slimm
I like Norwood...but i don't think you can say he is awesome because he had the highest average in 2007. How many total yards did he have? How many carries? For all we know he could have had 3 carries. He didnt have 3 but my point is that it doesn't prove anything. I would take a 4.5 ypc guy with 900+ yards over a 6+ ypc guy with 600. Just because Norwood had a great season in 07 does not mean he will have a good season for us this year. Take derek anderson for example, he had a great year and then just went downhill from there.I like Norwood but your post holds no weight in how he will be better for us this year
Adema1226
I would take a 4.5 ypc guy with 900+ yards over a 6+ ypc guy with 600. Maybe for a starting back, yes, but for a change of pace back? No, I'd rather have Norwood. In 2007 he basically tied Warrick Dunn's season totals win half the carries. I think he's an extremely valuable asset in the system we have now with Turner and Snelling. Shredman
thats all good but you gotta be on the field .... hes not on the field enough , he would be on the field more if he were not hurt all the time .... he just needs to stay healthy is the only deal with him... He easily slips and gets knocked down way too easily by simple arm tackles/grabs.
takeitdown
In both 2006 and 2007, he led the league in YPC with around 6 per carry, getting around 600 yards each time. In 2008, he again had over 5 ypc.In '09 he was injured and didn't do as well, but, when on the field, he averaged more YPC than pretty much anyone. He's a lot like Felix Jones for the Cowboys. Both would be great players if they could run even 150-175 times per year with consistency, but seem unable to.

SatJackSA_ATLFAN
I dont think you can dispute the fact that Norwood is a good ball player, sure, he may never be a Number 1 back in the NFL, and we dont need him to be that, he is a great change of pace back. I hope that with Snelling and Turner, we can use Norwood outside the tackles more, and prevent him from taking to many big hits per game.Like you say, its 2010, Norwood is healthy, and our running game is looking good. Interesting stats from our "worst" season ever.Norwood is a piece we could not afford to lose. I never thought he had starting capability b/c I thought he was too frail. He is best as a change of pace back. That being said, I thought without a doubt he would be back because the offense could use his speed. No way I would have wasted a draft pick just to get a replacement for him, at least not in 2010.

Norwood had 800 yards from scrimmage and 1300 yards in kick returns. All purpose = over 2000
