sdogg
AJCQuarterback Gray will stay at UGA2:08 pm May 12, 2010, by Tim TuckerGeorgia quarterback Logan Gray, after considering the possibility of transferring to another school for the past few weeks, has decided to remain at UGA.Gray informed coach Mark Richt of his decision today. The plan going forward is for Gray to work at wide receiver, as well as quarterback.Gray, a junior, began to consider a possible transfer after being listed as the No. 2 quarterback behind Aaron Murray, a redshirt freshman, on Georgia’s post-spring depth chart. The possibility caused much concern in Bulldog Nation because Gray and Murray are the only scholarship quarterbacks currently in the UGA program. Hutson Mason, a recruit from Marietta’s Lassiter High School, arrives this summer.“I have decided to stay at the University of Georgia because I truly do love being a Georgia Bulldog,” Gray said in a written statement this afternoon. “I want to be a part of this team getting back to the SEC championship game and winning it.“I’m also looking forward to getting some work at receiver and am going to work hard to make the best out of my opportunity at this position as well. I appreciate Coach Richt’s patience while I made this decision and his helpful advice. Now, I want to put all of this behind me and focus on getting to work on preparations for next season at UGA.”Said Richt: “I’m extremely pleased that Logan has decided to remain a Bulldog. He’s an outstanding player and a great person as well. We’re fortunate to have him, and he’ll be an important part of our team over the next two years.”

007dawg
:P Good to hear! He's a really nice kid and I hope he gets some PT this season.
MonettaDAWG
And they were suppose to put in a package for him with the wildcat formation last year, I think they were calling it greyhound or something. As bad as Joe Cox was you would think they would have tried it.

As bad as Joe Cox was you would think they would have tried it.They did run a few plays with Gray taking snaps, but he was highly ineffective. I don't know if it's because the play call was bad or what, but it is still very very difficult to forget about Logan throwing the ball straight to Brandon Spikes when NO ONE ELSE was around him for an easy pick 6.Glad to hear he'll be staying in Athens. It would be crazy to think about going into this season with just Murray and Mason at QB.

tjb
yeah he did a poor job when he ran those packages, but he was also put in some bad spots imo.I agree. IIRC, that play he threw a touchdown to Spikes, we were pretty deep in their territory. I'm not necessarily defending him, because he looked pretty bad, but he wasn't exactly given the best of situations to thrive.I'm just glad he's staying. I hope it doesn't come down to having to use him at QB, but it sure is nice having an additional insurance policy other than Hutson and some walkons. Plus, it would be nice to provide a little extra depth at WR, even if it isn't much playing time.

Logan wasn't in the qb meetings he was in the special team meetings and they really didn't give him much qb work. I know you have joe cox and stafford, but almost everyone knew staff was leaving and they should have at least had logan in the qb meetings. he would have been further along last year if he had that other offseason working as a qb. we are much better off with logan as our backup so i am very happy he is here and he can also work at wr and be there to help out the younger guys who come in next year.. it's a win win for the dawgs.
