basketballjones72
I'm very excited to see that Sean Weatherspoon is wearing #56. Now does anybody know where I can get just his name to replace the "Brookings" that is currently on my sons jersey?

basketballjones72
After the last few statements from Brooking and the way he carried on when we played Dallas, I don't think many fans want him in the Ring of Honor. Right now, I don't....maybe that would change after he retires and comes to his senses. Edited May 10, 2010 by basketballjones72
aerosmith67
ummmm, interesting that the number was even avalible....Why wouldn't it be? DeCoud wears #28, if anything that number should have been retired well before 56. This isn't some massive conspiracy, there's just a limited number of jersey numbers available when you only have 1-99 to choose from and restrictions based on positions on top of that. If you look at the roster by # there's only a few numbers that aren't listed. http://www.atlantafalcons.com/People/Roster.aspx?q=numberOne of those numbers NOBODY wants. Outside of Dunn there really isn't that many players from 1999 on that would even qualify. Brooking, while popular really shouldn't even be considered, at least not for 10+ years. Not 100% sure on this but i thought that everyone who is in the falcons ring of honor has spent their whole career with the falcons.. If you're going to use that logic Brooking couldn't be in the ring now anyway.

If they really wanted to they could have kept 56 out of the rotation.58 wasn't officially retired but you're not going to see anyone running around with it anytime soon.I've heard Blank and the rest of the front office were not happy with the way Brooking carried on when we played the Cowboys last year... The Don™
I bet the FO doesn't even care in giving 56 to Spoon with the way Brooking acted last season.I would have done the same thing.

If you ask me, I think we should retire it.

I thought pat kerney would be the only exception to retire as a falcon and playing with another team but his #97 was not retired. Brooking doesnt deserve to be in the falcons ring of honor. crankdatfalcon
Is Claude Humphrey's number up there? If so then they don't have to have played their entire career with the Falcons because he didn't.yea i believe so. But he was a falcon draftee. maybe i should of rephrased what i said. As long as the falcons drafted that player, and he played the majority of their long career with us, then that nominates them to be nominated into the falcons ring of honor which in this case brooking does qualify, but his number is being occupied right now so he's not gonna be in. Like a previous poster said, it would be kind of weird to see somebody else come out with the #58. I guess they didnt feel the same way with keith. Psychic Gibbon
56 would have been retired in name until Brooking retired so they could actually retire it if he didn't leave a sour taste in the teams mouth after last year. After that I'm sure the team felt they didn't really owe him anything.Ya, it would be weird to see anyone one else running around with 58 on their jersey. If you ask me, I think we should retire it.It has been retired, though.
