JRid
RapidReportsFilter by:Month: April · May 10th By Jason ButtEmail a question to Jason ButtSaturday, May 08, 20103:57 pm In the morning session's 7-on-7s, Falcons QBs combined to complete 11-15 passes with zero interceptions. QB Matt Ryan improved from yesterday, finishing 7-8 with a 35-yard completion to WR Michael Jenkins.3:57 pm Falcons coach Mike Smith talked briefly about Jamaal Anderson's role on the defensive line this season: "Jamaal will probably spend more time at DT in our sub package but will play DE in our base package."3:56 pm RB Michael Turner has appeared lighter out on the field but he insists he hasn't lost any weight (listed at 244 pounds). "It looks like I've lost weight but it's just redistributed to the right places," Turner said.3:55 pm One player impressing a lot of folks is UFA WR Brandyn Harvey of Villanova. In 1-on-1s and 7-on-7S, Harvey hasn't dropped a pass and has been difficult to cover by the younger DBs.3:54 pm Each time a young CB - draft pick, UFA or tryout player - comes to the sideline after a 1-on-1 drill, CB Dunta Robinson is there to offer advice. You didn't see much of that with the CBs last year.3:53 pm With TEs Tony Gonzalez and Justin Peelle aging, the Falcons signed three undrafted rookie free agents, Colin Peek, Leroy Banks, Michael Palmer, this offseason. "It's very tough to evaluate (how they did today) and TE is one of the most difficult positions in our offense with all the shifts and motions," coach Mike Smith said.3:52 pm Rookie DT Corey Peters had trouble in agility drills, kicking over the bags twice in a row. He needs to add body strength, so he needs to rely on agility and lateral movement along the line during his first season.
JRid
5:05 pm Falcons rookie LB Sean Weatherspoon has spent a lot of time chatting with veteran LB Mike Peterson. "We want the young guys to get with a mentor and there are a lot of guys that fit that role for Sean, such as Mike Peterson," coach Mike Smith said.5:03 pm With the Falcons not drafting a DE this year, coach Mike Smith is hoping second-year DE Lawrence Sidbury will improve and see more time in the DL's rotation. "Sidbury ended up playing about 25 percent of the snaps last year," Smith said. "We hope to increase that this year."4:58 pm RB Jerious Norwood has not participated in today's minicamp sessions. It doesn't appear to be anything serious, just a precautionary measure.
JRid
Saturday, May 08, 2010 6:35 pm WR Michael Jenkins turned out a superb effort in both practices today, coming down with tough catches and running excellent routes. One of his grabs was off of a fade where he burned CB Dunta Robinson. 6:34 pm After throwing six interceptions in two combined practices yesterday, QB Matt Ryan didn't have any today. He looked settled and didn't force many throws. 6:33 pm Today's top 3 rookies that stood out happened to all be WRs: Brandyn Harvey, Tim Buckley and Kerry Meier. Harvey had the best day of any rookie today, turning heads with quick cuts and solid hands. 6:30 pm WR Kerry Meier was able to walk off an upper leg injury after pulling up during a play at today's second minicamp session. 6:01 pm Both DEs, Kroy Biermann and Lawrence Sidbury, have had productive outings during today's second session of minicamp. They're both getting pressure to the QB, which is needed after last year's troubles with applying a solid pass rush. 5:45 pm DT Thomas Johnson, who sat out the second session yesterday, has participated today
A-TowN.-
Harvey sounds like he could take a roster spot along with Meier. Still rooting for Wolfe. I wish there was more updates! Stuff is like crack to me.

dmite
Jenkins burned Robinson? He looked real good. I can see why he's our #2 now (maybe he always does good in practice).
Psychic Gibbon
He looked real good. I can see why he's our #2 now (maybe he always does good in practice).Or, hopefully, he's realized continuing to underperform will cost him his job and he has to step up his game. Shredman
yea Jenk last yr wasnt the same Jenk in 08...thats why i have always stayed clear of the lets trade or cut Jenk threads... I Have seen the Greatest WRs in Falcon History Play. and Jenk has come up with bigger Catches in his short Career than some of those guys, and hes our #2 ... he could have a big yr for us with White continuing to Improve his already Pro Bowl Skills, he will get the double 80% of the Time, leaving Jenk 1 on 1 ,
xFalconLord
Jenkins is really fast quite honestly.. We just dont throw him the ball consistently enough for him to show off his skills.

The Falcon Jedi
I like the news about Turner. He can carry 245 but it needs to be in the right places. I expect a huge season for him this year.
