Which team has more talent.....Falcons or Saints?

Recommended Posts

This thread seemed to last forever last year when we did this and was just looking to get everyone's take this year.

D-line

Will Smith>>>> Abraham

Babineax>>>>>>>>>> Ayodele

Ellis>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> whoever your second tackle will be

Alex Brown>>>>>>Sidbury or Bierman

LB's

Vilma is the only one we have that matters....not sure who the other starters will be at this point. But he is one helluva a MLB and rightfully so is better than yours.

DB's

I'll start this by saying that D. Robinson would have a tough time being a nickel back with our CB's. Absolutely no comparison between Saints and Falcons CB's. R Harper made the Probowl...you can't argue that much. With a healthy Sharper....Not even close....even if Malcolm Jenkins has to start, he has much more talent than Decoud or is it the rookie on IR last year?

WR's

IMHO Colston = White

After that you don't have anyone that would crack our top 4.....think about it. For all you Harry Douglas lovers...would you take him over Meachem? Not a chance....

TE's

YOU WIN.... but our depth is scary.

RB's

Turner has more talent than anyone RB we have....I admit that. But collectively we had a better YPC and were ranked #6 in NFL. Hard to argue that the Falcons have more collective talent.

OL

J Brown Probowler

Carl Nicks PB alternate

J Goodwin PB alternate

Jahri Evans 1st team all pro

J Stinchcomb Pro bowler

Plus J Bushrod as a backup, with Strief and our 2nd round pick Charles Brown out of USC.

The OL speaks for itself

QB

Don't need to say anything here.

Bottomline....talent translates onto the field in the success of a team.

2009

Saints 13-3 .... Super Bowl Champions

Atlanta 9-7 .... missed playoffs

Saints had the better overall talent.

2010

Time will tell

LMAO, The Vilma comment was the best. Also why so quick to throw out "OMG HE WUZ A PROBOWLER" I mean do you not know what a joke the probowl has become? Your homerism has shined through so just crawl back to RC and everything will be okay,

Abraham sack total since 2004 = 56

Smith sack total since 2003 = 49.5

Abe has one down year and Saints fans jump the gun. Typical.

If you're defense is so golden and >>>>>> than ours than how do these stats add up...

PTS 20.3(14th)

YDS 348.9(21st)

PASS YDS 241.9 (28th)

RUSH YDS 106.9 (10th)

^ Thats us btw.

PTS 21.3 (20th)

YDS 357.8 (25th)

PASS YDS 235.6( 26th)

RUSH YDS 122.2 (21st)

^ Thats you.

I would still take a healthy Turner,Norwood, and Snelling over the Saints group of miscreants.

The only thing your hands down better than us is QB and O-line. Nice try though.

i agree with everything he said outside the d robinson claim. i think the tight ends are even, and i give the saints an edge in the depth dept. at that position.

with that said **** the aints.

D Robinson would not start for us. He couldn't beat out Porter or Greer.

OK, I'll play...

Running backs and defensive backs are at the very least a push.

Turner's a PB runner... Norwood's a homerun threat -- when healthy... Snelling proved he can carry the load if necessary -- rushed for over 150 in his final game last season... and Ovie is one of the better lead blockers in football.

Dunta Robinson comes in with the reputation of a No. 1 corner... Jabari Greer, Porter and Jenkins don't strike fear in the hearts of a single QB in the league. Harper and Sharper form a good tandem but the Saints' offense makes this secondary look so much better than it is. Often playing with the lead allows them to roam centerfield more and take more chances knowing the opposing team will look to pass more to catch up.

Thomas DeCoud is on the verge of becoming a star at FS with just a bit more experience and focus with his hands. Brent Grimes makes the most athletic INTs I've ever seen, but is light and an inch or two shorter than most would like. But he's got the heart to hold his own. Chris Owens is tough and athletic, again just needs more experience against top-level competition. We don't know what we have in Moore but we'll find out soon enough.

I'll take the Falcons' defensive backfield over the Saints' all day long...

Jamaal Brown alone makes the Saints' offensive line better...

John Abraham, Babs, Peria Jerry, Corey Peters, Kroy Biermann and Lawrence Sidbury form a better and deeper rotation than any the Saints could put together. Will Smith is good... Bobby McCray is serviceable... and Sedric Ellis is still attempting to live up to his draft status... he's you guys' version of our Jamaal Anderson.

Drew Brees is way ahead of Matt Ryan on the QB learning curve, but every year allows Matt Ryan to close the gap just a bit more. Brees has peaked... Ryan is only getting better.

Tony Gonzo better than Shockey and everyone else you guys have... funny thing is, Billy Miller may even be better than Shockey.

Saints have a deeper WR rotation than Falcons, but I think those guys are just a product of their environment. Our WRs play roles and play them well... Roddy White's a bonafide No. 1 and Harry Douglas is a Wes Welker clone. Jenks' blocks on the outside and runs across the middle. Saints have more track stars and I absolutely love Colston -- but I'll take Falcons' corp over Saints.

Linebackers are a push b/c I don't see any discernible difference between Vilma and Lofton inside... and the non-descript guys on the outside. Weatherspoon may change all that though... so I'll roll with the Falcons on this one.

By my count... up and down the roster... Falcons look better -- no homer.

Is he better than Porter or Greer? Which one? Or is it both? Get real........ Even your boy TD would knows he was reaching hard for Robinson. Can't blame him though. He had to do something to try and slow us down.

WR's in Atlanta are better? Do you even watch football?

RB's better....come on. Why was our running game so much better than yours? Just asking....

DB's better............... WOW! Who was smoked every game last year in the defensive backfield? And you added one very iffy high priced FA. Did you watch our DB's in the playoffs... you know, the only games that matter.

You have an overinflated opinion of your secondary if you think Robinson couldn't even make nickle on the Saints. Porter maybe but I'd take Robison over Greer anytime.

Heck I might even pick Chris Owens over Malcom Jenkins. (I wouldn't but thier not THAT far apart.)

DL and LBs, Falcons are better than Saints.

Secondary Saints are better, but the Falcons should be much improved this year.

OL Saints are better, and are very very good.

QB Saints are better.

TE Falcons.

WR Saints, though for all pass catchers in general (TE, WR, etc.) it becomes close. Saints still win it though.

RB Falcons, though the three headed attack of the Saints is quite good I think.

The test will be how much better the teams are in their winning categories. If the Saints QB and OL and secondary far outperform the Falcons respective units this year, the Saints will do well.

However, if those groups barely outperform the Falcons, while the Falcons DL and LBs and RBs far outperform the Saints, that will nod toward the Falcons.

There's no doubt that New Orleans is one of the most talented offenses in the league right now.

You do know Greer is the Saints #1 corner right? Greer was one of the better corners in the NFL this year. Look at what he did:

Was thrown at 80 times

37 of those were completed

47.5% completions

1 TD

2 INT

53.6 QB rating

He was 5th in completion percentage and 4th in QB rating in the entire NFL.

I am a huge falcons homer and not even I can say with a straight face that the falcons are the more talented team. Getting pretty close, but as a Falcons fan, we need our young guys like Jerry, Moore, Spoon, Baker to play up to their potential. Until then...

Most important position on the field is QB and right now brees is better than ryan.

Saints

WR

DB

OL

DL

ST

QB

Falcons

LB (Close call)

RB

TE

Saints have more talent, that's why we have a Lombardi and the Falcons don't. This question doesn't even need to be asked. Of course in no way is that saying the Falcons aren't talented.

ok yall got a Super Bowl but don't act like yall wasn't 2 Brett Favre bone head plays in a row away from sitting at home. that being said the Saints are a pretty talented team but yall squeaked by us twice and both of those victories had some questionable calls that could've turned those games in our favor. so even if you feel you guys are more talented than us it's good to see you recognize we're still there to reckon with.

"QB -No Question Here"

Brees is on the cover of Madden 11 and your backups are Grampappy Brunell and Josie Harrington.

Good Luck with your paper comparisions, we'll let the Falcons talk on the field.

All time?? Falcons are better. More winning seasons, more playoff wins and more head to head victories in this rivalry. We were the first dome team to get to a Super Bowl and the first ones to beat Green Bay @ Lambeau in the playoffs. Oh yeah, we also beat the saints in that 1991 playoff game at your place too.

We beat the Vikes in OT at thier place and that was a better team. (15-1 and almost unstoppable). You guys almost blew your chance at home if it weren't for FAVRE.

Like I said, it's alot easier playing corner when you know the other team's gonna be passing... you got pressure coming b/c the ends are just pinning their ears back and rushing the QB... not to mention a rushing LB... your corners don't have to cover as long so they look so much better.

Don't know why you called me a homer... looks like the DB is the only place where we disagreed...
