hawkeye
After not being able to land Graham or Morgan, it is clear now that the staff is set on letting Kroy/Sid develop.TD has said numerous times about getting pressure up the middle. Maybe if some stud DE's come out in 2-3 moreyears we will try to grab one, but we definitely won't be looking for one in the next draft. Even if we are content with our current DE's, we still need to find a replacement for Abe. Given the fact that we looked into the possibility of drafting Graham and Morgan, I suspect we still feel DE can be upgraded. I'd be very surprised if we didn't draft DE early next year. zigg zagg
who do we have at de besides sid kroy and abe? abe is getting old. this is probably going to be his last productive year. if one of those guys goes down, we arent in pretty shape. i wouldnt be surprised if we pick somebody up before or during the season. the next draft is chock full of good de prospects, and it will be a position of need next year as far as depth/grooming goes. i have faith in kroy and sid but thats not enough. if it was, morgan and graham would have never been targets. lets get real here. My personal favorite is Quinn.
falconva7
I don't get it. Everyone on this board and everyone on ESPN and NFL Network agreed that DE was our BIGGEST need this offseason after CB. We did nothing to address this need and suddenly everyone on these boards are saying "KROY AND SIDBURY, OMG WE ARE SET." Really? What changed from the draft to today? Did Kroy and Sidbury become Pro Bowlers in that time span?

UnrealfalcoN
we need DEs.Abe and Kroy we know what we can get and expect.Sidbury is an unknown, there is no way the team will gamble everything on the success of one division II player. Abe will most likely play his last game within 2 years and hoping his heir is already on our roster is stupid. And If kroy is Abe's heir, where is our dominant run stopping DE? it's definitely not Chauncey or JA98.
birdz4i
we do have 3 decent ends after abe. davis has shown flashes as well as sid and kroy. sid and kroy need a couple years and davis is better than JA98 in stats, though he is now 27 which maybe only leaves a few year window. hawkeye
Sure we wanted a DE in this past draft but we didn't get one. So now TD is going with what we have FOR NOW. Idon't think it will last forever but I think we can get by with what we have in Abe and Kroy/Sid for this year.I think Sid will eventually take over for Abe. But looking at next year's draft, I really don't see but 2 topDE's worth a 1st rd pick. Quinn and Bowers. And if we have the season we think, then we can forget about them. The rest are either 2nd rd talent or too heavy to play DE and are better suited for DT. (Romeus, Heyward, Dareus,Clayborn, Bailey, and Beal) I think we will eventually trade for one or try to get one in FA. But not in the draft next year. I agree with you on a lot the DE's being better suited to DT or 3-4 ends. Beal, Romeus, Quinn and Bowers are players to watch out for next year though! muskokas finest ©
We are set for the season, like it or not, and it certainly sounds like Graham was our choice over Weatherspoon, all things being equal, so that would suggest TD wasn't all that high on his current group of DE's
HouseofEuphoria
We're one injury away from JA98 being back in the starting rotation at DE.That's a pretty scary thought. We're basically going into this season hoping we see improvement from our current players. And we dodge the injury bug.A wing and a prayer, gentlemen. Did Kroy and Sidbury become Pro Bowlers in that time span?Nope...nothing has changed other than some people's opinions...but I've been saying for months that I think they are the future for this organization. I think that this year is the BEERMAN's time to step up and that Sidbury is being groomed to be Abe's replacement. However, in contrast to the OP, I think we will take a DE in next years draft because I think that atleast one of the DE's that make this team this season will not be brought back in 2011. kiwifalcon
I wish we had made a move for Osi Umenyiora via a trade this would have soughted our DE issue's out but alas the FO has a plan and with Morgan and Graham going off the board before we got a shot at them well we had no choice but to add to our DT rotation to get penetration to help out our outside pass rush.To be fair unless Abe has a big year I can honestly see the Falcons releasing him or trading him away as his salary next year is about 11 mill. The flip side to that coin is that Abe could well be playing for his financial future which could lead to a hit-back year.I personally am hoping for the latter.Sidbury needs to come on a forfill his potiential this year as he will get alot more snaps this year.Biermann I think they'll predominantly use him in 2nd and 3rd and long situations with Davis and JA98 used on the running downs. MR Falcon
Sorry but Bierman and Sidbury have to get their chance to prove themselves and develop this yr. as would a rookie would've too, this especially helps Sidburys cause in getting more playing time, we should see what he and Kroy has learned this off season. But either way we will still need another DE in the near future weither it's some time this yr. or next, but this is a given.
