Chipper out two more days with jammed thumb

11:02 am March 7, 2010, by Carroll Rogers

Chipper Jones jammed his left thumb in his final at-bat Friday against the Nationals and expects to be out of the Braves lineup for Sunday and Monday’s games as he continues to rest it.

Jones said he should be back in there on Tuesday night against the Phillies.

“I could go,” Jones said. “I just don’t want to do it again.”

Jones is 1-for-5 in three games so far with spring. He’s coming off an underachieving 2009 season by his standards after he hit .264, 100 points less than when he won the National League batting title in 2008. His 18 home runs and 71 RBIs were career lows.
