I just noticed something about the rating system.

Recommended Posts

I thought that my plus and minus ratings weren't working because I would get an error screen.

I just thought I would mention that after exiting that screen here in the forums and hitting refresh that the plus or minus is registering. In my case I had to refresh the screen.

Hope this helps somebody, I wasn't aware of it until now because I got the error screen and hadn't hit refresh until now.

Yep, just hit the enter key on the error and it will register.

Ah, OK.

Thanks.

There were a lot of people I wanted to plus but couldn't figure out why some people were able to rate posters but I couldn't.

I know what your saying. There were some serious trolls around here right after the super bowl who took full advantage of the system rating feature.

Honestly the main complaint that I have with the rating system is the fact that a user can join and re-join etc...... and make a false reading.

My thoughts on this is I think that there should have to be a minimum of 100 post/or replies to be able to rate a users post/thread/reply make a poll or contribute to a poll.

My minuses came from a post I made about the user rating system contrary to others belief on the plus minus of my status.

I'm just saying, "Rating and adding a poll is a privilege and not a right here on the forums". Or it should be.

I think a person should have to prove their seriousness toward the forums by showing some dedication before they can obtain that option.

I didn't say it the right way and attacked the plus and minus system in my previous post and that's where all my minuses came from. I can live with that, they were well deserved because I went about it the wrong way.

Whatever the case. Whether you like what I have to say, or not as of now. All I ask is a proposal to the moderators and admins. and that is

"Make it to where a user has to have 100 post and or replies before they can rate a topic or start or contribute to a poll answer". Or a combination, at least 100 in any combination. That would show some dedication to meaning what they are being a critique about to anothers reply.

I don't think that's a bad ideal and if you are with me on this then please reply and or ask the mods to try and make this happen.

I will say that I am not doubting or going after the mods or admins. either. I just believe that a person should show some loyalty and care and that they are using these forums before they can give someone a plus or minus as to what they think about a thread/reply/post participate in a poll or add one etc.......

I think a 100 post/reply or required combo isn't too much to ask. It would help the mods/admins to weed out the trouble makers also.

Just my opinion.

Isn't this +/- thing a bunch of BS anyway?

I mean Mr. Right (Wrong IMO) has a -950 or something and he's still around.

What's the point system actually for?

on the bottom of every thread there is a threshold line.

so if you set your threshold at -25, every post that gets less than -25 rating will be hidden from you.

but some people ignore that and keep bumping troll threads.
