Falcon Fan in Carolina
This game is going to be frustrating to say the least. Hopefully, a victory in the end will wipe all that anguish away. The playbook has 6 plays in it with Ryan playing. I'm assuming Mularkey has more faith in Ryan than Redman. So with Redman, how conservative do you think he's going to get? Edited December 3, 2009 by Falcon Fan in Carolina
HouseofEuphoria
Not going to get much into our game planning, but i foresee a big rushing game from the Falcons this week. I think Turner will play (Although in a limited role). Our offensive line is better at run blocking than pass protection, and with the problems they've been having our safest bet is to run run run. Keep that Eagles offense on the sideline. Control the clock. Redman can mix in a few passes to the shorter zones with Gonzo and White (and it looks like Finn will be back this week).I dont think its as much Mularky going ultra-conservative this week as much as i think we stick with a simple gameplan because it's the smartest thing to do against our opponent. BCEagleATLFalcon
FWIW, Smitty said to expect to see a stronger Redman on Sunday because this week, the game-planning will be "done around Chris's strengths. Last week, we had to adjust on the fly." Now, aside from pre-season and last week, I've never seen Chris in an NFL game, so I have no basis to interpret that comment.Anyone?? Falcons know they can't win playing conservative with our defense.

falconfanjason
I don't think the game plan changes all that much. Redman doesn't have as quick a release as Ryan nor is he as mobile but he's an accurate passer. 59.7 completion percentage in '07, 10 TD's vs 5 INTs. He didn't throw a pick last week, and completed 56 percent coming in cold. This week he gets to practice all week with the first team, he should be even more prepared.I worry more about the pass protection, Philly brings a lot of exotic blitzes and Tampa was able to get six sacks. The O-line will have to have a monster game to give Redman a chance to throw.
birdz4i
isn t he already ultra conservative? i mean look at ryan's #'s in the spread and hurry up and why mularkey doesn t seem to use it more? its always 2 wr's 1 te and 2 backs or 2 wr's 2 te's and 1 back. ryan's #'s in the hurry up and spread are ridiculous he was near 80% completion , but for some reason mularkey doesn t use it more often. GetUSom3
The Hurry-Up offense has been truly effective, not sure why we are not using it more.We can't blame Mularkey, so it must be the players fault? It would be great to see Redman running the Hurry-Up offense and spank Filthies with it. falcfan1
I don't think it will get all that more conservative than it already is with Ryan. Truthfully, I think Ryan make's it look conservative because he doesn't throw down the field. Redman, unlike Ryan, will take that chance and make those throws down the field. Stretching the field.Don't burn me for this, just my thoughts. I always thought we should have stuck with Redman a couple of years ago and drafted defense then. We didn't NEED a QB THAT early in the draft because Redman showed he can produce when he was in those last 4 games of the season. Redman will shine this Sunday against Philly and we will get the win. He will be a nominatee for player of the week.
