ChessPlayer1
If Redman manages to beat Philly next week, and is productive with the offense. And then Ryan gets healty enough to play. Will the Falcons start Ryan the following week against the Saints? Or will they continue with Redman if he's effective?

Firstiary
If Redman throws 4 or 5 TDs and no picks, then we'll talk about a QB controversy. IOW, there will be no QB controversy

jlrfalcon
They will say Matt Ryan is still hurt before they would let a controversy develop like thisThere is no way they would let a multi-million dollar QB sit on the sideline. Redman would have to have multiple 4 TD/0 Int performances in a row before they would ever make Ryan the backup.Just look at New England which didn't hesitate putting Brady back as #1 this year. markdzul
it was the tampa bay bucs. they are now 1 win 10 losses. redman is a servicable backup. thats about it. Ryan will always get the nod if healthy. he is the franchise and will play every snap he is capable of.

ChessPlayer1
Why man, why?Why would we pay Ryan and put the intangible price on his head that we have for him to back up a journeyman QB? Even if Redman is effective against Philly, why would there be QB controversy when clearly Ryan is our starter? What? B/c Redman did alright against the pirates? And b/c he may do ok against the Eagles if he plays? That's how Tom Brady got his start. Bledsoe was injured and Tom cam in and played well.
