ND assistants already seeking new jobs

Recommended Posts

In the wake of University of Notre Dame's football season ending with a 45-38 loss to Stanford University on Saturday, it's not a secret that the fate of head coach Charlie Weis could be decided within the next 24-48 hours. In fact, league sources told Scout.com that several of Weis's assistant coaches have been calling around friends in the NFL this week to see if there are any potential job openings coming up. Sources also indicated that some members of the coaching staff believe they will be fired by Monday. While not being told directly that a decision had been made, the indication for a few weeks from several league sources has been the staff wouldn't be coming back for 2010.

Weis, who has six years remaining on his revised 10-year contract that puts him through the 2015 season, signed that deal during his first season with the Irish back in 2005. Incredibly, Weis got a new deal after just seven games. Weis's original deal with the Irish took him through the 2010 season.
