DeathFromAbove
I really wish the AJC would stop stirring the pot with stupid stuff like this. What does it matter what the felon did? He hasn't actually played for us in almost three years and is a Philadelphia Eagle now.
Jesus
Comparing Ryan to Vick is like comparing actor Anthony Hopkins to Chuck Norris.Laughable.which would be which? Are we comparing butt kicking skills or acting chops or toupees? Chris D
As I've said to this argument and comparison on several occasions. Vick and Ryan aren't able to be comparible. They come from two completely different spectrums of quarterbacks, and can't be compaired with eachother.
FalconFanSince1970
OK Ryan and Vick fan checking in here.I've seen every Falcon QB and those two are both winners. They could rise above the things Bart, Chris, Chandler, Berry, George and Hebert couldn't.Be it bad defense, bad Oline, bad play calling, bad special teams, no run game, etc.Vick is the all time winningest Falcon QB with 30 or more starts.Ryan can unseat him if he wins two more games before the end of the season. Winners.
falconidae
I happened to have been crazy about Vick. Like with Ryan - I've always kept a spreadsheet of their progress. If he's going to judge him on 26 starts - then he needs to use 26 STARTS.Some of these numbers should be:Vick 16-9-1 vs. Ryan 16-10Vick 5390 total yards vs. Ryan 5700 total yardsVick passer rating after 26 games = 77.1 vs. Ryan after 26 games = 84.3Vick 23+9=32 TD's and 15 Int passing vs. Ryan 32+2=34 TD's and 23 IntVick 9 TD's rushing vs. Ryan 2 TD's RushingVick 24 Fumbles and lost 14 vs. Ryan 9 Fumbles and lost 3Good or bad - these are the true numbers after 26 STARTS in the NFLSo, let me guess- you posted this in the AJC blog, right?I was an ardent Vick supporter until he got indicted.Got frustrated with him that he never matured into a true QB- This is the only point where they'll be any question whose the better QB for the Falcons. Ryan will keep getting better through the years. Do this comparision at 50 games and 67 games, won't be close.Edited for a question to Tandy- what about sacks in the first 26 games? If someone posted on his blog with this information - they just took it from here.As for sacks - Vick had 65 sacks for a loss of 398 yards, Ryan 31 sacks for a loss of 168 yards. How is that laying it on the line every game?
DeathFromAbove
People don't even accurately remember 2002, all they tend to remember is the run against Minny and beating Green Bay. They forget that we started and finished 1-3 that season, and the Eagles beat us decisively in the division round. Point being, at the end of his FIRST season starting quality Ds had already begun to figure out how to contain the felon. We made a nice run in 04 but the NFC was the weakest it had EVER been that year. Rambler
The stats didnt mention the rushing yards. I guess they meant nothing. Didnt win any games, didnt extend any drives, didnt drive defenses nuts, nothing. I guess when a quarterback crosses the line a scrimmage, it shouldnt even count. atlmycity
Vick didn't get to his first playoff game his rookie year either. He only started 2 games that year. The only thing that matters in this league is WINNING the Superbowl - something no quarterback has ever done with our team yet.Tandy lets be real about this Ryan has more weapons than Vick you know it, while youre going by some numbers, you didnt mention how horrible Roddy used to be an dont tell me you didnt forget about those drops. Why did Ashley Le Le catch everything even though we barely used him? why did Algae catch everything? Warrick Dunn was no Michael Turner either. He had trouble getting in the endzone. Ryan cant carry this team like Vick done. Only real weapons Vick had was Crumpler and Finneran. Ryan has a developed Roddy White, Harry Douglas, San Baker, Harvey Dahl, Michael Turner and Tony Gonzales. Please do not get me started. Truth is Ryan couldnt hold Vick's jock strap and each and every one of you know that. Edited November 24, 2009 by atlmycity

Truth is Ryan couldnt hold Vick's jock strap and each and every one of you know that.Vick had (maybe still has - we'll find out maybe next year) more natural talent and ability than any quarterback that ever played the game. What he lacked was the dedication and work ethic to become the greatest to ever play the game - even though he had the potential.I blame it on his childhood and the fact that he came into the NFL at such a young age. He was really a baby still when he came out in the draft. He was suddenly hit with all that money - and all his "homies" pulling at him in every direction - he took the wrong road. He brought that on himself - but it doesn't change his talent.I wasn't saying Ryan is better or worse - I was only correcting the stats and answering a couple of questions.I believe that Ryan will in the end be the best quarterback we have ever had - not because he possesses the physical athleticism that Vick possessed - but because he never quits trying to improve and he will work harder than anyone on the team and study more- to be a winner.None of us will ever know just how amazing Vick could have been if he had just applied the work ethic along with his natural abilities. He could have been a once in a lifetime quarterback - never to be duplicated.

I've been watching him all year - and it's been painful at times.I really, truly want to see him make a comeback. I think he can bring a lot not only to the game - but to young people. He seems sincere and he seems really humbled. I hope he gets it back. Its very painfull watching him on the sidelines. Im not too crazy about Mcnabb but imo opinion Mcnabb always had the better team. His team has always been evenly Matched on offense an defense and whenever we played the eagles it was mostly in Philly. When we played them in the dome we won even though we got into a fight with them. I cant believe the eagles have Kob as a back up. hes really not good at all he threw 300 yrds against the saints, but also 3 ints an lost. Yet he threw 300 on the pathetic Chiefs an they think he's God. LOL gimme a break. Everyone in the NFL knows Andy Reid passes more than any other coach in the NFL thats his weakness. The Eagles dont run the ball enough. Commentators often criticize him for it. That game against Philly will be an emotional game for Vick. I cant wait til he comes back. I just hope it doesnt affect the way Ryan plays.

He doesn't have a future there in Philly - but he can get used to the game again and get back in shape. I thought he looked more like his old self last night than I've seen all year. I know it was only one play - but he looked good - less nervous and more confident.
