FalconMama
Jenkins.. 386 yards with NO TD's, hasn't caught a TD games since the Raiders game which was umm 19 games ago. Jenkins is getting paid $5 million a year so far he's rewarded us with 386 yards and no TDs going into week 11! He's NOT a #2 WR, not even close. Can't catch a jump ball and catches everything against his body.. He's the most fundamentally flawed player on this team... I said it last week and I'll say it again, I never could and still can't stand Michael Jenkins.
RyanFalconMan
That drop reminded me too much of Roddy White dropping the pass against the bucs in 05 i think it was. We got to have better handed receivers. I don't think Finneran would of dropped that pass. Who knows, I am kind of tired of watching our receivers play at that level. It shouldn't happen. Last year, they didn't play at that level.

I'm not defending Jenkins, he should have caught it along with many others he's been thrown but that pass was not what lost the game yesterday. The total ineptitude of our cornerbacks lost the game. Chris Houston can't cover a bed and Grimes is only marginally better. This teams top need during the offseason is at least one quality corner. That's become apparent. No resistance from any defenders. nothing, just dropped it. He does this alot. I remember his first season as a starter in week 2 against Seattle. Jenkins got behind the entire secondary and nobody was withing 15-20 yards or so. Vick drops a ball right over his shoulder and the ball fell right between his hands. that has happened over and over in his career. Once a few years ago against New York the same thing happened. Vick avoids the rush and rolls out and heaves up a perfect pass the ball drops right into Jenkins, he drops it. The guy sucks. The guy routinely drops big wide open catches. along with the fact he lacks in every skill needed from a WR, how is he even on the team? let alone a starter? Falcons0081
Jenkins really did play well this game but then with one drop of the ball, I lost all hope in him all together....AGAIN! He almost fooled me into thinking he was a legit #2 wide receiver. I mean really, how wide open must you be to make a catch. He dropped the ball right in front of Roddy White. Did you see Roddy's face. That was a kodak moment for sure. Edited November 23, 2009 by Falcons0081
SatJackSA_ATLFAN
I totaly agree!! Everyone misses 1 play !! Again you guys its our defense everyone please quit making excuses !!!Missing the point mate, this guy was a 1st round pick, we need him, no, its constitutionally required for him to make that catch, its not like it was even hard... Anybody that thinks he could ever be a #2 must just watch the falcons offense and ignore all other football in the country

When Roddy was a hold out, who was mentioned as a possible replacement? Harry Douglas not Jenkins who had just cashed in for 5 million a season. Jenkins is best know for his blocking, This would be fine if he was a tight end or offensive linemen but receivers should be known for catching, running good routes and yards after the catch. You don't pay a player 5 mil to block a DB. Edited November 23, 2009 by insight
atlantaprodj
Basically. Maybe when he stars making some big plays I'll be able to look past all the plays he's blowing.Chicago catch last year... big play. OP is right...he's a big reason our running game works when it does. Great blocking WR

Great blocking WRMike Jenkins is not a BIG reason why the run game works well. Jenkins does not stretch the field, and has trouble getting open against single coverage. Teams are putting 8 in the box, bracketing Tony G, and Jenkins rarely gets open. He has average hands at best, and has very few big plays for a 5 year starter. slamee101
Chicago catch last year... big play. OP is right...he's a big reason our running game works when it does. Great blocking WROne **** play and I'm supposed to overlook the numerous drops he's made over the years? The number of times he CAN'T get separation? The times that he can't go get a jumpball even though he's 6'4?Elam kicked a FG in that game to win it too...but with the way he's played this year he can't lean on that. Look up on this page. FalconMama put it in perspective. This guy has given us little production to be a starter and a guy we spent a 1st round pick on a few years back and just gave a nice extension. CraigSmackDaddy
Take away the drop and we get a win and Jenkins would be up for the Hickr'y stick award this week. Not saying he even gets a TD... just that the drop did not happen. I'd bet money he would have won the FAN award if Ryan didn't. Some people have forgotten who won the Bears game for us last year. Who got the first TD from Ryan... just saying.

Dharma Initiative
BUMP!Jenkins continues to be solid. I can't believe some people want Weems or some other unproven guy to suddenly be the #
