The Snellvillain
Not all high school teams do it. When we was beating teams 40-0 50-0 we never threw the another pass. Our coach always told us no reason to embarrass your opponentWell my highschool coach, along with my middle school coach, realized that life goes on past the current team, so whenever we brought in our backups, we ran the same plays we would run with the starters in. Crazy insane I know, to prepare kids for future success. That's the most classless thing I've ever heard of

Come on now man. I'm sure your coach wouldn't have did that to 14-18 year old kids. Also, has that formula worked for him in winning any state titles? SandDrew
The UGA guys have to take whatever pleasure they can on getting down on others to forget their own misery for even a few fleting moments. Anyway, serious question, would you guys be better off with Brantley in the SEC Championship game then Tebow? I didn't get a chance to check him out but if hes as efficient as you guys say, you may be better off with him then Tebow. I know Urban is not going to make a move like that with Tebow, but besides running the ball, thats about all Tebow does well, and don't get me wrong, he does that real well but everyone knows what to expect and with a good D like Alabama you're not going to full them this time around. If FLA loses the SEC Championship game, do you think people will start asking that question.

That said, Tebow brings an unbelievable amount of confidence to the team and leadership that is just amazing. No way do you bench Tim Tebow but I am optimistic about what Brantley will be able to do in the next two years...
diablo
Here's how you stop the Gators from throwing on you when they are already up huge, you do what the Wildcats did to Tebow, put in the DE who sends Brantley to the locker room. Then I think you see Meyer decide to run the ball a bit more to get out without anymore injuries.

The Snellvillain
Thats what I was thinking. I would think practicing against UF's second string would be more of a test than FIU. But maybe I was wrong. Florida may just be really thin at defense.. ..........What? How could your brain have possibly come to that conclusion without caving in on itself? I'm sure your coach wouldn't have did that to 14-18 year old kids. Also, has that formula worked for him in winning any state titles?T.S. McFerrin or Coach T as everyone knows him. He's won one state title and has a total record of 301-93. Won the AA State title in 95 with Elbert County, and then went to South Gwinnett where he coached David Greene. He retired in 2004 but recently came out of retirement to become the new head coach at Jefferson. It wasn't a "formula" though. He did what any decent coach does. If we were up by a wide margin he would bring in the second and third stringers to get playing time. It does no good for anyone to bring in second and third teamers and having them 3 runs and a punt every time. High school and college football is not the NFL. You don't get to build your team and have franchise players that will be around for 10 years. You've got to constantly rotate your 'next in line' guys so they have real game experience running a real offense.

He would do the samething your talking about your ex coach doing. Except he would never pass the ball if we are up in the 4th by more than 30 points. In high school I just don't like passing the ball when your up by that much. That's all

House
I was at the game saturday and Brantley pretty much made all the right reads and throws, that last td pass was a thing of beauty. I'll post some pics tomorrow, since I just got home about 30 mins ago
Xnex
I don't see why anyone has a problem with UF doing this. Sure that team yesterday wasn't going to give Brantley a realistic preview of how it's going to be next season when facing SEC 1st string defenders. But that can't be helped. You play against the team on the other side of the line, no matter who that team is. Using your second string players to come in and run the ball for 3 plays and then punt is of ZERO value. Great college teams have to do this in order to give their backup players some real life game experience. I've never had the good fortune of pulling for such a team but if my team were in the same position as UF right now I would expect them to run the offense throughout the entire game. Everybody should expect that of their team, and of the team that they are facing that week.Plus by UF doing this they may be actually helping the other team improve their backup players by allowing them to face real life game situations. A decent HC for the losing team should also put his backup player into the game and let them improve. It's simple "succession planning".
