aerosmith67
True... and Petrino was the final nail in the coffin.I don't know of any QB that would have success where the Head Coach is the first one to throw you under a bus.Petrino NEVER takes the blame... it's always the player's fault.... even in college.Joey is an interesting story for sure, he went from being one of the best QB's in college to being a running joke, he didn't do that all by himself. It's actually kind of sad, had he gotten on a bad team with a good staff who knows where he would have ended up.
Andre5000
what ridiculous blanket statements. ryan has confidence. joey would have never tried to make the throw that ryan threw high. joey would have checked down. ryan missed his target and threw high. it happens. btw ever notice how all the announcer's praise ryan for throwing it away when he does?Joey had confidence early in his career.. I remember a game when they beat Tampa when Joey had a great game and made an insane throw into the endzone to win the game at the end. USS BABINEAUX
btw ever notice how all the announcer's praise ryan for throwing it away when he does?As do I. However, that is becoming his crutch. Gonzales and Throw aways. Matt Ryan is a 4th round pick at best. Ryan has really good command of the no-huddle and good game management. Two things Joey could never do.I would have more confidence in Ryan calling all the plays out of the no-huddle than I do now. Perhaps that goes against mularkey more than anything. A good QB makes a pass that only his receiver can catch. Ryan is a gunslinger like Favre. Except he has a lot weaker of an arm.
21 Falcon
Do you have anything constructive to say? This is like the 7th post like this you've started since yesterday that bring nothing to this forum. It's clear you are only hear to start trouble. It's uncanny!Happy feet. Forcing throws. Overthrowing. Underthrowing. RB who takes a lot of the pressure off, yet he still can't make a completion. Dink and dunk cause he doesn't have the confidence to go downfield. Use the TE as a pacifier. Statlines that never go over 200yds, and are about 50% accuracy. WOW!It's crazy how much Ryan looks like Edwards. Falcons Ace
Without a personal attack on me. Or without someone saying this is a ridiculous comparision. I would really like to know how they are different.I have watched football for years, and I've seen a lot of QB's who don't make it. These two guys have the exact same skill set. The only difference I see is that Joey takes a sack, and Ryan throws it away. Joey had a few good games too ya know. Just like Ryan has.I don't know, tell me the difference between Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf? Matt Ryan has a much stronger arm, Harrington was a weaker arm than Chad Pennington. I'd give Ryan a 7/10 and Harrington a 4/10 in arm strength.Matt Ryan is a leader, Harrington was known to be a stand-offish.Matt Ryan will throw under pressure, see Chicago of last year. Harrington immediately folds up under pressure and falls to the ground.Matt Ryan is exceptional with his ability to manage an offense, Harrington doesn't see the field past 5 yards if anything. Matt has only been in the league for a couple of years, so the hope is that he will actually realize his potential and not bust like Joey. Things are looking up for Ryan because we have a strong coach and a young and upward bound team.

Sun Tzu 7
It works both ways.True... however Ryan isn't going anywhere in the next few years. As a Falcons fan I hope he hasn't lost his confidence. Otherwise it's going to suck the next few years.Since he was the #3 pick we're not picking up a new QB high in the draft or free agency anytime soon. We're going to ride or die with Ryan... that's why I'm hoping he can fix whatever the problem is. Clearly, any QB would throw a long TD on his first pass. Clearly, any rookie QB could come in and fully manage a no huddle offense on the road in a dome. Please. But whenever a team starts losing, the fans want the QB's head on a platter. How long before people want JPW to start? Ryan doesn't put up the numbers to be able to turn the ball over like Favre does. Ryan isn't explosive like Favre is. Ryan is average. But by turning the ball over like he does, he becomes 4th tier.
