SWIFT HITTER
You can see when he is in the pocket . He is trying to force the ball and get more velocity to get it out there and that is forcing the ball high. He is not that type of QB he is a precision type QB that is suppose to hit marks like Chad Pennington but now we are keeping everything to the sideline and thats a tough throw for a QB with basically no arm strength. illest_will
but then he overthrows Jenkins in the middle of the field...Matt Ryan is just having a pretty bad game today.
malk
That is true. We need a game plan to play to Matt Ryans strengths.

Striker42
One big issue is the fact that the pass protection is terrible. Ryan has no time so he's hurrying everything up.
malk
I am ready to see Redman give Matt a rest..You dont give up on your franchise qb in the middle of a game you can still win.Plus what can redman do that ryan cant? Nothing at all.

Ryan has no time so he's hurrying everything up.Ryan plays better in domes ..why cause NO WIND ..No conditions ..Its also 77 degrees out there in Carolina..we will see how bad Ryan arm is next week in the Meadowlands with the wind
malk
Our receivers arent helping the matter as well. They need to get separation and get those yards after the catch.

illest_will
One big issue is the fact that the pass protection is terrible. Ryan has no time so he's hurrying everything up.but even when he gets protection he rushes things. whether that's running away from phantom pressure or forcing the ball when he has more time. i don't know what exactly it is, but a lot of blame can easily be placed on Matt Ryan for this last stretch, he just hasn't played well in a while. Zenduke
I think his high throws are more Ryan trying to hard then bad arm strength.
muskokas finest ©
It's more about not finding the right spot in the pocket to position himself.
RyanFalconMan
Last time Matt Ryan had a good game was in San fran. I thought at that point, if he could do it to the 49ers, he could be effective against any team. Who knows, I am at lost with this team right now. It just seems like something is just not right and the Falcons are trying their best not to reveal the problems inside the Falcon building. I didn't think that would be possible with out YKW and Petrino, but how can this be? How can the offense look like an offense playing on their heels? malk
I think his high throws are more Ryan trying to hard then bad arm strength. That might be a little bit of the problem but it is a known fact that ryan does not have that good of arm strength. Not saying you need great arm strength to be successful but the team isnt making use of his strengths right now.
vel
uh Kenk...no. Ryan is a second year player if we protect him from bad games like this and dont give him a chance to overcome it then how does he progress? yea he has been struggling but if you wanna blame it on a sophomore slump then you are giving it a justification. i just say he is in a funk by having to carry the load and a lot of injuries depleting the team. he just lost Turner and Douglas has been gone as well as Finneran. i am confident that this learning curve will pay off later in the "process". think about the people we are missing that would open up a lot of things. (Norwood, Douglas, now Finn and Turner) come on. quit jumping on his back. yea i agree he doesnt have the best arm strength and that he is more precise but he has poor targets to choose from in Jenkins and Zinger/Peelle. if i can lock in on White/Gonzalez/Turner then im fine but add Douglas and Norwood and thats a lot more trouble to deal with. This is the time for Matt to grow up. yall complain about him airing it out and now is his chance to do that
ATLCDL76
Dangit Matt, Stop making it so hard for me to watch falcons football. I can't take this crap much more. If we have a losing season again i officially quit being a falcon / NFL football fan. I don't need added stress in my life especially coming from football. How can he be so good, and yet so freaking bad? As of right now i was happier with crappy Vick. Edited November 15, 2009 by ATLCDL76
SWIFT HITTER
This week we will see the effect of Ryan's lack of arm strength this week in Giant stadium where a ball gets cut down cause of the wind .
Statick
No, him getting happy feet and not resetting his feet when he throws is making his passes sail high.
Ice1974
No, him getting happy feet and not resetting his feet when he throws is making his passes sail high.exactly, that is exactly why he overthrew his last INThe was throwing off his back leg, not stepping into the throw, and he was leaning away from the pressure coming his way, but he did have time to set his feet, and step into the throw, looks like he was scared to take the hit
