JOEinPHX
There are a few salient points about the first half that should be noted right about now.1) The record is 5-3, same as last year en route to an 11-5 season and a playoff berth.2) The three losses came to teams with a combined record of 20-4. That is elite competition.3) The Falcons had the toughest schedule in the league through week 8 - opponents winning percentage was .612.4) The sledding is a bit easier in the second half - opponents winning percentage was .439 through week 8.5) In all likelihood, this team has yet to play its best ball of the season.Sure, we'd love to see the Falcons at 8-0, and its galling that the Saints have the inside track on the division title. But I, for one, am pretty well pleased with the current State of the Falcons Nation.

Dr. Billings
How many of us before the season would have been happy with 5-3?I believe everyone would have taken that record considering thecompetition. The Carolina game will be tough, but winable. Our mainchallenges approaching are NO, Jets, and perhaps Giants. That said, canwe be looking at 10-6? And is that enough for a playoffs berth? Falcons Ace
I expected us to be 5-3 or 6-2 at this point, so I am perfectly happy. The Eagles, and especially the Giants aren't looking all too great at this point now.
ki46dinah
We were all expecting to take that next 'big step' as a team...but it probably wont come this season.A few too many costly injuries, chronically weak corners, and Ryan's newfound lack of confidence and decision making are keeping us from being Elite. If we could just clean up that last one, and we can, then we could be borderline elite and make a good playoff run I think....this season even.
