Big Zee
Matty's struggling a bit but I'm confident he'll get out of his funk. If Turner can run the ball like he did last week, not only will Ryan be better but our D will improve as well.
PHATRYAN
God, that shows such a fundamental lack of football knowledge I don't even know where to begin to dismantle it.Name a single Boston College receiver during Matt Ryan's tenure there.Tell me how many interceptions Peyton Manning had in his first year as the Colt quarterback. His second year?Ookie isn't coming back.Deal with with or become an Eagle fan.Wow, way to dismantle me. How many ints did Manning have his senior year of college? ****, he had 33 ints his entire career at Tenn.Regardless of the WR's at BC no elite NFL QB threw for 20 ints his senior year of college. QB's make WR's better, Ryan is going to have a hard time from here on out. He has 9 ints, look for him to at least double that the rest of the year. Teams have the blueprint, takes away his first option and he struggles. You guys can live in la la land if you want. Wait when TG is gone after this year Edited November 4, 2009 by PHATRYAN
The Vent King
ryan's going to be alright. i'm not worried about him.This.Any QB that's in the league long enough will have stretches like the one Ryan is experiencing now. Its how they overcome adversity that separate the good ones from the great ones. I have every confidence Ryan has the mental fortitude to overcome this. rounz
Sorry this post will be a bit long but I've got some concerns about Matt that have been nagging me since late last season. The things I like most about Matt are his ability to accept responsibility and his desire to be the best by out working other qb's.But I began to get a little concerned about Matt late last year. I can't remember exactly which game it started in last season but late in the year he started throwing INT's. I believe it began when we had 3 or 4 games left. All qb's suffer when they are put under heavy pressure through the pass rush and Ryan is no different. But last night I'm pretty sure there were a couple of times when the Saints were only rushing 2 or 3 guys and as soon as Ryan saw the DE get even a little pressure he failed to just step up into the pocket and instead he basically broke down and ran himself into another Saint player and took a sack. I also think Matt became a little gun shy late in the game and became hesitant. A couple of times he had the "deer in the headlights look" last night, IMO. I'm also worried about his downfield passing. The timing and accuracy have been very bad several times this year when Ryan was required to put some real "umph" into the passes. Even on the big bomb last night Ryan didn't really throw the ball that well or that far. I'm wondering if Ryan has worked himself so hard that he developed a "dead arm" like MLB pitchers do sometimes.I believe he will get it fixed but I am becoming concerned that something has gone awry with Matt.I do remember the skittishness, but it seemd like at one point in the second half (?) Ryan just decided that since he was gonna be hit on the plays anyway he would just stand there and take the hits but deliver the ball anyway. He had 19.He also had a passer rating over 127.....You conveniently left that stat out.Big surprise Ookster......You should have tried to at least be a bit more creative with your username. We could see you and your agenda from blocks away............
supremedarius
Listen, here is the problem, He only has 2 reads on a play. No safety valve. Jenkins cannot break press and all he has is White and Gonzalez. Teams are dropping 8 and the falcons are sending out 2 WRs. How and the **** can two WRs beat 8 DBs. Please explain this? redwolfcfc
Ok even Ryan said he is disappointed in his play yet some people on here still want to be apologist for his recent games. He needs to step it up, its all in his headWould you expect him to say, like some other lesser QBs, that he thinks he is doing fine?"I had a good season" after a total collapse and 8-8 finish.or"I think I did okay" when the team lost and the QB rating was like sub 50..Ryan said he left plays on the field after the SF game...of course he is not happy with the last couple of weeks, but he will be fine. Ryan worries about Ryan. We really would be worrying about the wrong thing IF we were worried about Matt.
HouseofEuphoria
It's on the job training. He's 15-7 coming straight out of college. He didnt stand around holding a clipboard at all. He came to his first NFL training camp and earned a starting spot right away and has performed above all expectations. It's a learning process but he has shown an uncanny ability to read defenses, shows a superb work ethic, and is driven by an obvious desire to improve his play week to week. What more could we want from a second year player?
PHATRYAN
Neither did Ryan. Xnex
Ryan is figured out thats all, He's no longer the New guy in town, his play has been studied, picked apart, examined and people have found ways to counter most of what he does, expect worse losses now that teams are giving more tape on how to put Ryan's game to rest..Sorry but you're wrong on that count. There is no "figuring out" Matt Ryan just like there's no figuring out Drew Brees or any other top notch qb. As Ryan matures and suffers his bumps and bruises he will learn more and more how to be a great NFL qb.

falcndave
He just needs to settle down and go back to being Matt Ryan. He acts like he is playing tight instead of the loose and relaxed Matty Ice from last year. Plus, we have been playing some really good teams lately. Our schedule has contributed to some of his woes. We will hit an easier patch now and things will pick up.My take?He has looked like he is in a struggle because he is in a struggle. We are facing quality opponents week after week. We are fighting many of these teams for playoff positioning. He is a second year QB and school is in session at the NFL big boy academy. I think what he is going through now is they very thing that will prepare him to win one game at a time when the pressure is on. You can't buy this kind of experience. He is getting playoff pressure two months in advance. No matter what happens this year, he is 3 games closer to being ready for the big stage when we finally get him there.Next week is an important lesson as well. "Building Confidence 101," begins Sunday at 1PM.

cheaton
Well said, IMOMatt's fine. He's the best true QB we've had here for a LONG time. Peyton Manning even goes stretches of games where he throws alot of picks. In a timing offense sometimes your timing is going to be off, and on out routes if that timing is off it's going to be a pick alot of the time. The last I checked TOs were figured into a passer rating, right? Soooooo passer ratings aren't relevent only TOs? Hmmm... stupid trolls. To kind of take a side look at this article, why was Hill replacing Grimes? Houston is the liability..... I'm officially on the ditch Chris Houston bandwagon. This guy couldn't cover my grandma. Grimes may be short, but I believe in him more and more every game. Anyone who makes an effort on an interception like the one he had in this last game is going to start on my football team. lookout
People need to keep in mind this is just his second year. He is still far better than most QBS at this stage. A few years from now, i have no hesitation in saying he will be looked at on the same level as brady and manning. They took time to perfect their craft too and ryan will also.
