magnum xl
Other than Fantasy Football ... why do yards matter?Wins matter.
btrain5489
Other than Fantasy Football ... why do yards matter?Wins matter.Because yards are typically indicative of points. It's atypical for a defense to rank at the bottom of the league in yardage allowed and in the top 10 in terms of points allowed. jm_falcons
I thought they were 4th in points allowed. Best D in the ncf in points allowed. The Red zone D has to be the best in the NFL
papashango
What do yards matter? Well if you don't get yards you don't get in the redzone lol. Unless your defense scores all of your td's and has about 4 int's a game.
Osiruz
Yeah I was looking at stats, and offensively, besides the niners game we've been mediocre this season, ryan really hasn't done too much.
Voice of Reason
Okay, I'm getting tired of this "points are all that matters" thinking. This simply is not true. Sure, points allowed is the most important stat. But if a team plans on playing "keep away" from opposing offenses, like ours does, yards allowed most certainly matters. Low yards allowed usually indicates a defense that's hard to move the ball on. Any defense which is hard to move the ball on is also hard to score on. Sure, if I have to have one or the other, I'll take less points. But it IS important to give up a low total of yards, too.
Osiruz
^true, and we really havent been tested in the air besides last game, hopefully the coaching staff continues to surprise and overachieve in that regard.

I'd rather give up 400 yards a game with 2 TDs any day... Hey we could even be like the Panthers and only give up 869 yards and allow 25 points a game...your logic is flawed.
