Why is Tony Romo considered a star QB?

There are some specific reasons as to why Romo is a star already. A surprising stat I heard the other day is that his career QB rating puts him in the top 5 all-time if he retired today, even with all his turnovers.

Linky for non-believers.

That alone would make him a star, but playing for the Cowboys only helps to increase that status. Added to this is the Jessica Simpson story, him earning the starting job without being a high pick, and the fact that T.O. cried in Romo's defense; and you have a superstar media darling. The question shouldn't be why is Romo is a star, it should be how uninformed do you have to be to think he isn't a star.

I am going to try and bring some sanity to this thread, because I am seeing some really smart people say some really silly things.

If Tony Romo put up his numbers as an Atlanta Falcon, he would be the franchise record holder in:

Career passer rating

Passing yards in a season

300 yard games (18)

300 yard games in a singe season (7)

Career competion percentage

Career passer rating

Passing TDs in a season

Most TD passes in a game - tied

Most wins as QB in a season - tied

Career Best win percentage as QB

Career most yards per attempt

Career passing TD percentage

So if he were a Falcons player, and he had done all of this in less than 3 seasons, would we be calling him overrated or overhyped?

I doubt it.

No man, it's only because he has a star on his helmet /sarcasm.

Rev, I have my ideas but they are not very nice. He's another Delhomo IMHO.

When your mocking someone's name like that, do you ever ask yourself if that is the christian thing to do?

Peyton's on fire, with this ^ and all the Tony Homo stats....

I edited this because you ticked me off and I was not very nice about it. In the future, if you have a PERSONAL knock with me. PM me, next time won't be as friendly.

Thank you.

I don't have a personal knock with you. I was asking you a serious question. I was in church the other day and the sermon was about living your life as a christian all the time rather than just some of the time, and I wanted to see what your thought process was when you made a comment like that, since you present yourself as a christian on the board.

Not well, but I know that making fun of someone's name by calling them a homo isn't a Christian thing to do. You could just go with:

"Yeah, you're right."

How about, "I felt like making a joke on a guy who plays on a rival team and no real ill was meant." or "I actually have tons of respect for his accomplishments coming from nothing and not even being drafted." or "I'm on a board amongst friends and decided to go half cocked."

Am I not allowed to have fun because I am a Christian? This is why my job is so difficult. Context man. It would be very different if I heckled him in person with the same comment, but I did not and would not and thats out of love for the guys. Romo and Delhomme. I don't understand why a joke can cause so much ill on THIS board, but I assure you that no true harm was meant and if either saw it they would laugh. My Pastor has called me "Under-WARE" for my last name and I take no offense from it. NONE. Why? Because I'm not going to take ANYTHING like that personal.

Calling out my faith, however, is personal. Think about it.

I know its all in fun, but someone needs to come up with a funnier nickname for Romo that Tony Homo............ooooo change the first letter nice!. Same could be said about the Falcons:

Shoddy White

Injurious Norwood

Micheal Clinkens.

Then Chris Houston is just Toast Jr, cause he is always getting burnt. And Toast Sr. was D. Hall.

We can all make fun of names, but instead of that, lets just discuss some real football and look forward to the game this week, which the Cowboys will win!

I just finished a sermon on racism, hatred, and bullying. This was on Saturday. I am no longer known for joking, but I'm feeling a little like it today. I go through a lot and would like to have more fun sometimes. My wife is due any second and I'm all over the place having slept very little. Please cut me some slack. Seriously.

Well I have to tell you dude, as far as jokes go, the calling someone gay is a little bit overused on this board. I would call it played out. In the name of originality, I would take a different route.

Obviously neither are gay. LOL. I for one am a Christian, but I am not against GAYS at all. Thats not my area. I cut an old and overused joke. Just call it like it REALLY is. Corny.

This is what I know. Romo has good numbers, but you guys have only beaten bad teams...

Except - based on that link - he doesn't qualify. It says they must have 1500+ attempts. He doesn't.

That one's not too bad, actually.

As for your boys, OT vs the Chiefs and you're talking smack to us?

Well we should have blown the Chiefs out, but ill be the first to admit we played sloppy. Im thinking they will get a lot of those issue resolved in the bye week. Because we had something like 13 penalties, several on 4th down. And ONE HORRIBLE CALL, when the Boys had the Chiefs backed up at the end of the game, 3rd and 26 and the ref called unessecary roughness on the Cowboys, on a very clean hit.

Im hoping for a good game, but of course a different result than you guys. Plus im friends with several Falcons fans, that I would love to rag about how we beat them, as im sure many of you would love to Rag some Cowboys.
