Falcons_own_nfc_south
First downs seem to be the root of the 49ers' offensive problems. They're not getting very big gains on first down, which often leads to third and long situations. The 49ers ran Glen Coffee 15 times on first down. Against one of the worst run defenses in the league, he either was held for no gain or stopped for negative yards on five of those runs, and he averaged slightly less than 2 yards overall on first down. That's got to improve.

60niners
This is correct. There is an underlying issue in this problem that isn't readily apparent. Teams have been given a blueprint on how to shut down our run game; gift wrapped by Coach Sing and Jimmy Raye. Jimmy Raye has basically handcuffed Coffee telling him to not bounce the run outside or look for the cutback lanes, but rather to pound it up the gut and have faith that the run lanes wlll be created by the O-line. Well the O-line has been playing subpar lately and this basically ends up in Coffee running into a wall of defenders. Rams had a pretty poor run defense prior to the game against the Niners, but they knew exactly how to stop the run game and played to it perfectly. They run blitzed, and did anything and everything to crowd the area between the tackles. If the Niners continue to keep this strategy going, it'll be a LONG afternoon for Coffee. Niners can make our Run Defense looks like Ravens or we can make Niners Coffee is the NEXT Best RB in the game. :-)Niners D is Good and Falcons offense is above average so far.Falcons D is just average and Niners offense is below average (without Gore)..I'm expecting a close call due to Niners D. Let's hope that Falcons come out with a "W"...Crossing my fingers Edited October 10, 2009 by falcon_owns_nfc_south
atlanta greatest city Ÿ
I just had to take SF DEF in FF. It was either them or St. Louis. I hate it.
