Tandy
Well, the fact is, we play who we are scheduled to play - and good or bad team, we have to be prepared and go out and execute. They've done that regardless of who they've played. I would imagine they'll do that against us as well. We just have to do the same thing and remember - there are 60 full minutes of football - play 'em all.

Andre5000
They don't have a Ravens defense. The Rams QB just made it look like that. And seriously, you have to have been reading the niners boards like I have to understand how little confidence they have in their QB.About half of them would have him kidnapped and deported if they could. NOBODY can be as bad as the Kyle Boller..

leothedog
Niner fan here.Fist off, SkiFalcon and Desert_Falcon, you avatars ROCK!Now, let's discuss football. I understand this is a Falcon board with Falcon fans, and therefore you should be thinking that the Falcons will win next Sunday. I get that and respect it. For those of you that think the Falcons are going to score 38 points agains the Niners...You are delusional. After four games, our defense has given up an average of around 13 points per game. We're playing with essentially the same players as last year, but instead of asking them to do 3 or 4 things average at best, they now are being asked to do 1 or 2 things great, and that's the difference.Offensively, they are playing exactly how Singletary wants them to: Conservatively. I'll admit it's not flashy, in fact it can get boring and frustrating. However, after 4 games, Hill has thrown 1 interception and is in the top 10 for passing rating and TD throws. Our running game is coming along, but it's not where we want/need it to be. The offensive line is not opening the holes enough for a sustained running attack, but they are throwing the ball well. If you stack the box, Hill will get you in the secondary.Bottom line: Sunday's game will be a good, hard fought game and will end in a close score. Since I'm a Niner fan and the Falcons will be traveling a long way to play the game here, I will go on record to say when the Scoreboard shows 4th Quarter, 00:00, the score will be 49ers - 20 Falcons - 17.Good Luck and may neither team suffer any serious injuries. In saying that, I expect a great battle, but I will also say that the 49er defense will have its hands full, particularly against our passing game. We have a lot of ways to hurt you...more than the Cardinals. If we play fundamentally sound football for the full 60, there's no reason why we won't walk out of Candlestick with the win. falconsd56
So were the Cards last year and they took care of us in the playoffs.the niners are not the cards though, They don't have a 2 time mvp at QB and 3 1,000 yard receivers. While they do have a MUCH better defense their offense is not NEAR as strong. With Gore potentially out, its going to make it even harder for them. Its going to be a good game and we are going to challenge the niners like none of those other teams ( minus vikes) did on defense and I don't think the niners can hold us to 17 points. War Damn Eagle
Okay, this thread has gotten a little off topic, so I'll try to further clarify the original post. The Niners are an up and coming team and I have mad respect for what Singletary has done so far. That being said, what have they really done? The win against Ariz on the road was a good win but I don't think the Cardinals even make the playoffs this year - check my post history and you'll see I called it in the preseason. Last year was a fluke however they did have Warner, Fitz, and Bolden. I don't see anything near that quality in SF. Nearly everyone agrees that the Falcons are a bet to make the playoffs this year. If we lose to SF, who are we going to beat? Tampa. Buffalo. Washington. That's about it. The point is, who's a better team - the 4-0 Broncos or the 2-2 Steelers? The 0-3 Panthers or the 2-1 Raiders? It's way too early in the season to look at records. Everyone picked the Ravens to beat the Patriots and looked what happened. They got outclassed. That's what will happen this Sunday. It will be a very tough game and the Falcons will prevail. No shame in losing to Atlanta.

I feel the offense is the strength of Atlanta, and the defense is for the 49ers. I also don't see either team getting much on the ground, so it could very well come down to Ryan vs a good pass defense/Sean Hill vs a very average pass defense. ATLNINER_FAN
First of all, that wasn't your original intention of this post. Your original intention was to downplay the NFC west as a "lesser" division in football and to say that the Niners weren't really that good, the NFC west is just horrible and somebody has to win it. I like how you totally ignore the fact that the NFC South currently has 2 winless teams in it, so you can actually make the case that the NFC South is in fact the worst division in football. With that being said, on to your "argument"Okay, this thread has gotten a little off topic, so I'll try to further clarify the original post. The Niners are an up and coming team and I have mad respect for what Singletary has done so far. That being said, what have they really done? You could ask that same question of Atlanta. It's not like they've beaten anybody of any significance. Their first real test on the road in NE, they got outplayed, outhustled, and outcoached by a team that wasn't even as good as Atlanta. There is no reason Atlanta should've lost that game, but they went up to Boston and got it handed to them. I've watched Atlanta play. They are a good team. I believe that the niners D, however, is better than the Falcon's O. For 4 straight weeks, the D has played the same every single week, so there's no reason to think that this week all of a sudden they won't play or they'll have an off game. This is the type of group that is going to punch you in the mouth and stand there and see what you're going to do. Do you think your Falcons are going to punch back or turn and run? nofinerthan9er
Under Coach Mike Smiths watch the FALCONS haven't lost back to back regular season game yet, I don't see them starting a trend by losing this game. No way will this 49ers defense be able to stop our high powered offense, I'm sure the mistakes against the patriots for our FALCONS offense have been addressed and corrected, same for the FALCONS defense, well, for the defense let me say improved and hopefully corrected but good enough. No pun intended at all, they are a young defense and need some work, but they are getting better and should be able to handle the 49ers.The 49ers run game is questionable also IMO. Eitherway my prediction is : FALCONS 38 49ers 13. yeah under shaun hill the niners have not lost at home......niners 24 falcons

The Falcons are going to whoop that @**. Expect the Falcons to correct the deficiencies from the Patriots game and come out with something the 9ers never seen on film. Thats the advantage of playing one less game then your opponent. When you have been doing things successful like the 9ers has been in their three wins, the Falcons has plenty to go off of. Without knowing to much about the 9ers I do know Davis is Hill go to guy and that Coleman or Decoud is about to get their first pick this Sunday. The 9ers depends on their defense as do the Falcons depends on their offense to get their defense going. To tell you the truth to be so young on defense they actual played decent last Sunday holding the Patriots to four fg's and one TD initially. The last TD came after the game was already decided. This has been overlooked because the offense didn't put up the points that they are capable of putting up. Belichick did a good job with the injury report the whole week with Welker. They strategize a plan to have the Falcons think Welker was going to play and they ended up running two-three TE sets. Don't expect Smith to be fool again. They will be prepared to go after Hill bread and butter Davis. Like I said before the 9ers has already shown their hand while the Falcons are still peaking. As long as the Falcons don't let the 9ers special team score or turn the ball over on offense we will be fine.
