Dem Birds
Pay him, but don't overpay him. as the topic asks, did he deserve the contract he received. He deserved a bigger contract, but he in no way, shape, or form deserved to be the #2 highest paid receiver.Wasn't that debunked anyway? That it was the second highest contract? Dharma Initiative
Why am I not surprised that you're bashing the falcons?Jenkins is solid enough. Douglas will be back in the future. Gonzalez is a freak. Finneran and Booker are good possesion guys. Norwood can play receiver.Yeah what a bash.....
raysnill1
yes and anybody that says no will be crying if he left. Roddy can't help that we haven't been taking shots down field this year.

Dharma Initiative
I am referring to the other post you made, which is bashing Roddy.Yeah I don't like guys that were detrimental to the team and held out, then get paid too much, then don't play up to the money and become even more detrimental to the team. It's about the Falcons, not Roddy. But you can't tell him that when he sports such a big contract now.

Dem Birds
3rd in yards and still paid more than the two guys ahead of him combined. All of our receivers are talented, our problem right now is we have too many weapons and Mularkey hasn't found a way to use them all properly yet. He will and Roddy's numbers, Turners numbers and everyone else's numbers, will go up.
SaintsH8
3rd in yards and still paid more than the two guys ahead of him combined. yeah like he doesn't have to compete with a future hall of famer, another good receiver, and a good run game. Everyone knows that the numbers would not be the same when Gonzo got traded here. Roddy has been the guy the past 2 years and has led the team in yards TDs and catches the last two years. If you believe that his numbers would be the same this year you are delusional.
phattywankenobi
there was no need to lock him up. He would have to be with us for the next 2 seasons anyways. He could hold out, but he would've kept getting fined so much he'd have to come back to have any money left.He would be an RFA next year and that would get pretty ugly for both sides. It's much easier to negotiate when there is no pressure to do so. 18.6M guaranteed is the only part that really matters. If he is worth the salary for that particular year then they keep him around otherwise they trade him. Anyone trying to evaluate a receiver by stats only over the course of only 3 games is terribly unrealistic. Look at the top 10 in stats of each category. There is clearly a mixture of those of notoriety and those who may be 3 game wonders.

He is good and deserved more money, but not nearly what he got.And since we knew we had gotten Gonzo, we had less reason to give Roddy so much money. etherdome
Exactly this is his 5th year. He looks like he regressed this season.Dharma, Come on man. I will grant you that Roddy was a snot-nosed kid for his first two years. He has matured and is now a Pro Bowl quality receiver. Give the guy a chance to get into sync with Ryan. Have a little faith in Dimitroff. It will all work out.
atlmycity
He was among the best in the league last year with 3rd down catches. Man has ONE dropped at the end of the Denver game and he's a choker. That's all it boils down to, it really is. If he does disappear, it should probably be attributed to the defense knowing he's the guy to worry about. Because he is.And he was interfered with on that Denver play.Look at what you said " 3rd down catches" not td's.
Dem Birds
Look at what you said " 3rd down catches" not td's.Yeah, third down is the "MONEY" down. soo... you have no point. He had 7 TD's last year, I believe as well.
cyofish
This question should be revisited at the end of the season. You can't just it based on 3 games. There more than likely will come a time during the season where he will earn his money. White proved that he's an upper tier receiver for 2 years prior to the new contract. He's entering the prime of his career. Based on those two facts, he deserves his contract. He could have much bigger stats if Ryan wouldn't have over thrown him twice in the Miami game. Slimm
I still think roddy is good....he will get his receptions...i mean matt ryan has missed some deep balls to him and with the addition of Gonzo his catches will probably go down
