Finally
Early records are an illusion anyway but before some idiot starts coveting the Ravens or the Saints keep in mind they have both had an easier schedule so far. Sure Miami and Carolina are both 0-3 but they have faced tough opponents. When you take everything into perspective we are still one of the best teams in the league and we haven't even peaked yet. Should I remind you what normally happens when we peak too early in the season? I am frustrated at the way we lost but the best is yet to come. Ghost Rider
I agree but we do have a lot to work on. We HAVE to get this running game going. Roddy has to get going as well. He is getting mostly man coverage and should be tearing it up. BTW, NE isn't finished yet. Brady is still really rusty but they are so well coached it isn't even funny. We'll take care of SF when we get back from the break and we'll be OK. Hopefully the Jets can knock off NO's. If they don't, NO will be tough to beat for the division. That is just the way I see it, like it or not. We might have to sweep the division.

I anticipated offensive problems on our first road trip but I was really counting on our defense to help keep us in the game. Some of it is still rust. We will get back in sync. Jaymadd
Sorry if my good news spoiled your day.why did you give me a -1, i didnt give you one i was just joking, but since you gave me a -1 I had to return the favor. Since Finally cant take a joke then I agree that we are at a good point, but it is important that we shore up the run defense because we are facing a lot of good running teams this year. We will get back in sync.I knew what ya meant and you are absolutely right. We aren't close to being what we can be right now. I think after this bye week we could start picking it up some. This will be the first time our coaching staff has to really look at what we are doing wrong in detail and give them the ability to correct some of these mistakes. Our LB's was the biggest problem in our run defense this past week. They were not gapping right. I am sure a lot of that had to do with their concern for the passing game. NE doesn't typically run like that. They came up with a great game plan against us and we were game planning to mostly face an explosive passing game. I really think we have to cough this loss up to Belichick's great game planning. I guess you can say we were out coached this week. Nothing to worry too much about. That will happen from time to time when facing other great coaching staffs.

defensedefensedefense
Newsflash: 2-1 is never as good as 3-0 The offense should of scored more on every team we have played so far, limiting the time the defense is on the field... Ghost Rider
Yeah i think that the Coach's gameplan was to stop the pass, instead of attacking the run.Yep. Smitty said it was a big surprise when they activated 3 TE's instead of two and that at that pint they knew it was coming so they started scrambling to change the game plan some. He said all of a sudden they started wondering about how few times they practiced during the week for 2 and 3 TE sets. My guess is not very much at all considering our LBers were out of position a lot against the run. It happens. We lost the chest game this week. Many teams have lost on that very same account against the Pats. This team will bounce back and we'll get better at stopping the run. This was the first game our LBers didn't play well. Except Lofton I guess. I heard he had like 16 or 19 tackles or something ridiculous like that. I am thinking a lot were down field Keith Brooking style though. lol. He missed passes and only threw for 277. That is not better than he is. If anything he wasn't as good as he really is. And Delhomme is streaky. We are not the first team that he has played like that against. Geez. Delhomme has very bad games sometimes but he has very good games as well. Maybe you're the one not seeing many games. Yes, we have a lot to work on but we aren't far off. The only thing I am really worried about is our pass rush being very inconsistent. Of course this week we played against a very good o-line that has 3 pro bowlers on it. They also played with 2 and 3 TE sets to help[ protect their QB. The Jets confused them, that team is filled with a bunch of Champions and they were not going to allow that to happen again. Matter of fact, they are 41-0 after a loss. Again, maybe you are missing the games.

Nothing has fired on all cylinders yet.And despite that, the Falcons are sporting a 2-1 record. If they weren't good and solid, every team we played would have made us pay for that sputtering. Early records are deceptive because of the way the schedules work. We haven't had any gimme games like the browns, chiefs, or lions. We have put away a division game already which is a major step in the right direction.I have seen the games. The pats game was ugly and frustrating. In a given season it is not unusual to lose a game you should win and win some that you should lose. We haven't peaked yet. It gets better from here. Ghost Rider
   AP would rack up 200 yards against our defense lol and they will again have the stingiest run defense at years end...Our run defense was really bad last year as well but he didn't rack up 200 yards. Hmmm, wonder why? Care to explain? We won that game btw because he couldn't hold on to the ball. Difference is, we game planned for the Pats to be pass happy like they normally are. Our LBs are out of position a lot due to them dropping back to cover the pass. Minn would be different. We'd stack the box. AP might get his 100 but that would be about it. Total different type team than NE. We'd defense them totally different as well.

I'm not sure the win against Carolina holds a whole lot of weight, but a win's a win.Carolina faced the eagles with McNabb, us, and the september cowboys. It is hard to say what kind of team they are but they have faced 3 really tough opponents. They may not be as bad as their record indicates. Miami has had tough opponents too. Of course, they will probably fall apart now that Pennington is out for the season.
