juiceaccts
Okay, I'm fed up with looking at all of the posts that flooded in after the loss, so I made a decent one. Tired of the idiot's calling for heads to be chopped, droning the phrase "same ol' Falcons," etc. So let's get objective...Yes we lost. We're 2-1. So what?We looked bad, offensively and defensively. We couldn't stop the run, we couldn't run ourselves. That alone is a recipe to lose.We played conservatively the entire game, even when we were behind in the 4th quarter. I'm talking offensively and defensively. The ref's were total garbage.Without watching the game twice, the only unit of our team I could fault would be the OL. Turner couldn't run, and we couldn't protect Ryan. Yes, Turner fumbled but those things happen. He wasn't being careless with the ball, it was just a perfect helmet-to-ball hit. It really killed our momentum (just like the call against Jenkins did.)We tried to rush 4 guys against ~6 defenders and played deep against one of the best passers in the NFL.We didn't go deep to test the defense of the Pats. They kept everything underneath them with ease, and shut down Gonzo.Basically, we didn't adapt at all to what they were giving us, so the play-calling was off, not the players.Positives? ...We have 2 weeks to fix our mistakes, and work in our 2nd-round draft pick and speedy cornerback to help our defense. We'll be rested up and ready to take on the rest of our schedule. We're ******* 2-1, quit bitching.

Constant Havok
The offensive line was alright pass blocking in this game but they were awful in the run. They got blown off the ball for pretty much the whole first half.
Falcons 'til Death
We were out coached and out classed by a team that has been at the top of the NFL food chain for most of this decade. Belichek and his staff are the best at game planning and getting their troops ready to play come Sundays. How about we give them some credit for knowing how to beat us and going out and executing it?As far as Turner's fumble is concerned, and I agree, a helmut to the ball will dislodge it 99.9% of the time. thestufford
Positives? ...We have 2 weeks to fix our mistakes, and work in our 2nd-round draft pick and speedy cornerback to help our defense. Two weeks won't fix the problems we have on D and the O-line. I don't even think an offseason would fix it.

Striker42
Do those refs even know what a hold is? Or were they intentionally trying to protect Brady? Seriously, the Patriots were holding Abe all day.

crankdatfalcon
see what you dont seem to get is that we have been having this problem year in and year out for the past couple of years. Its not just about sundays lost. The defense is not aggressive enough. Abe is basically a one man army again in regards to getting to the QB now with the loss of jerry. A one man army just like last year. Peterson does show up every now and then and makes great plays but when hes out in coverage, its up to abe to get to the QB EVERY SINGLE PLAY and he cant do that by himself. Let me state again, this is not all about yesterdays lost. BVG is not aggresive enough or has enough balls to call an all out blitz every now and then. Leave the corners on a island to see how good they really are.
sourdiesal
I think maybe a lot of people in this organization have started to believe their own press clippings, so yesterday could be a blessing in suprise. Sometimes a good reality check is needed. The offense, defense and coaching staff isn't as great as people have been saying it is...It was an early test and we failed. Life goes on though and hopefully we learn from our mistakes and try to improve our weaknesses..

I believe we have the personnel this year to do way more than last year, I'm happy with what I'm seeing from every position on our team, provided we can continue to improve... which is why I'm NOT impressed overall from the play-calling defensively. I'm definitely not one of those "FIRE BVG OMG" guys, though. I'm praying the bye-week helps us out more than screws us because it's so early. AtlFalc78
Do those refs even know what a hold is? Or were they intentionally trying to protect Brady? Seriously, the Patriots were holding Abe all day. There were 2 blatant calls missed that made me realize the home team got the advantage. Brady was all but tackled by Abe and their tackle Matt something had jersey and shoulder pad yet no call. The second was the obvious hold on Houston at the point of attack on the run to the outside where Houston's feet, hips and head were trying to go 1 direction but his shoulder pads wouldn't turn cause he was being held. How the refs missed that is beyond me!!!!But the game wasn't lost by bad calls, we just didn't attack the way I thought we would have. I would like to see us attack downfield more. It seems the past 3 games we tried to go beyond 20 yards in a couple of plays; otherwise, the deep threat has been nonexistent. Jenkins' play was nice and I think we need a bit more of that to get the safety out of the box.

I'm praying the bye-week helps us out more than screws us because it's so early.well there is only one way to find out what this defense can handle which is to put them in the line of fire and go all out on some plays. If we continue to depend on ja55 to get pressure (just like last year) we will give up so many plays and homeruns especially to prolific QB's like brady, brees, manning. I have some serious concerns about our O-line.Yeah, I liked what I saw from DeCoud. At least he was in position, he's looking pretty solid on that note. He helped in the running game too. We really need plays like that to HAPPEN though, not almost happen. Also, even though it was a rookie penalty, Chris Owens looked ferocious on ST when they threw a flag on him. I loved that. Also, for all the people bashing Williams, I thought he looked good overall. I LOVED that break-up when he shadowed Moss beautifully and broke up a TD 1v1. I mean, come on, that's Randy Moss. Not yet.The Patriots did however lose to Buffalo two weeks ago, everywhere except on the scoreboard,............Buffalo............a pathetic team. The mighty Patsies are NOT that great any longer. We just made them LOOK that way.
