duncja
Props to the defense for keeping us in the game as long as they did.The bend don't break isn't pretty, and as actually quite frustrating to watch, but up until late in the 4th quarter, the Patriots had been held to 16 points, including forcing 4 red zone trips into field goals. This defense is not going to dominate the highlight reel. This isn't going to be a top 5 defense with big plays week in and week out... but this defense is enough to win. Our defense was on the field for almost 40 minutes. Our offense is loaded with weapons, yet we were 2/9 on 3rd down. If you do not convert 3rd downs, you can't move the ball. Plain and simple. This entire game, defense carried this team. obmann
The problem is, that the defense was also responsible, that they were on the field soo long. If you cannot get the offense from the field, your defense will be on the field. They could not stop them on third down and not on fourth down. The Pats went for fourth down on their own 25 line. That would be a awesome stop. And the Pats have no real dangerous rushing attack. Yesterday they looked like a tremendous rushing team. So the defense got pushed around. Mike Smith did not yell at Johnson without a reason.....If Brady plays like a good Pro Bowl QB, they Pats score over 50 against our defense. He missed really throws. They stopped 4 of the 5 red zone trips by the Patriots, and kept them to 16 points for the majority of this game. Our offense had 2 first downs int he 2nd half. If you only put up 10 points, you're going to lose most of your games, plain and simple.

Infinitepwnz
Can we not give credit when its due? Whether or not Brady was misfiring inside the 20 or not. I'm sure the D had something to do with that.

Falcons 'til Death
When you have a lot of young players on the defense or on the roster period you're going to have games like this. Funny, I'd be willing to bet that most of these young guys will be the strength of the team this time next year.

After 3 quarters of play, the Patriots had only allowed 1 TD in 4 red zone attempts(1 for 5 on the day). Now you can argue semantics all day and say "it wasn't our D, it was their O" etc, etc. I can do that with any team, any game, and given Sunday. The FACTS are that only 16 points were scored against our defense in the first 3 quarters. The FACTS are that our offense was unable to convert first downs, extend drives, and ultimately give the defense rest. I know it's not fun to place blame on Matty Ryan, the offense, or the coaches because they're are the faces of this team, and frankly, why some people posting these Chicken Little threads became fans. Facts are facts though. Until our offense can extend drives, score TD's, it doesn't matter what our defense does. Can we not give credit when its due? Whether or not Brady was misfiring inside the 20 or not. I'm sure the D had something to do with that. It's easier to blame the defense I guess. nobkowski
The offense was moving the ball until the 4th qt. The Turner fumble, and the Jenks penalty hurt us. Along with RWhite just standing still while Ryan is scrambling.

I remained confident about the game until the 3 drives in the 4th quarter.
Dharma Initiative
It was more of Tom Brady looked like DJ Shockley and kept us in the game.
birds4life88
the patriots were playing keep away...80% ON 3rd downs 100% on 4th downs you have to get off the field. its not a good sign that your D is playing well when a team goes for it on 4th down on the

Infinitepwnz
Yeah, to a loss.If Brady even hits 2 passes that he missed they score 2 more TDs.Yeah and if turner doesn't fumble and there is no PI on jenkins we at least have 10 points, probably 14. Stop with the what ifs . . .

Stop with the what ifs . . .My point was the Brady kept us in the game with his bad passes (and dropped passes) more so than the defense did.I really didn't think it was that hard to understand but then again.... there's always "that one person". Our offense couldn't extend drives, kept our defense on the field. Then of course, our coaches thought the best course of action was to punt the ball 3 times in the 4th quarter down by 2 scores. No excuse.
Xfactor
The defense and Vangorder deserves nothing concerning this game. The game plan was to pressure Brady, he had all day, no pressure nada. If Brady is on his game his stats would have been 5td's 400+ yrds passing. It would have been ugly. * No pressure, Brady has all day* Their anemic running attack Fred old man Taylor for God's sake gashes our defense.* Again our secondary making most of the tackles on running plays.* Abraham a non factor for the second game. My question is he 100% or is he hiding another groin injury.* Johnson should have his azz put back on the practice squad today what a joke. Losing Jerry is really going to hurt us a DT. * Brady was our biggest ally keeping us in the game with those horrid passes to wide open receivers. birds4life88
Hmmm.... all this... and our offense was the least productive part of our day.because our offense was rusy from sitting on the bench all day.....this was just like the miami vs colts game ....unfortunantly matt ryan isnt peyton manning do you think the colts D carried them in that game??? i mean they were on the field 45 mins and gave up 200 yards....but only allowed 20 points

If you would like to start a "Kudos to our offense" thread I'll gladly post my opinion.
