Now the real fans can enjoy our team continue to have a great season, while we realize that it is very difficult to beat playoff teams on the road in the NFL.So before you go to Sam's Club with the wife, get it all out. 1981falcsny Posted September 27, 2009 Share Posted September 27, 2009 Looking at this game before the season I didn't expect us to win, today we didn't play to win, but we can make the playoffs and in the playoffs I think we could beat these Pats if we stick to a better game plan.Oh well good we get a bye week, nor comes back and we can run the ball 35 + times next game. I still think that we should have won this game though. 2 many mistakes. That PI pretty much ended the game. I think Mike Smith should have went 4 it a coulpe of those 4th downs because we were moving the ball. I didnt like some of those calls by the refs though and i like how they called the patriots block in the back back and just enforced our penalty. Michael Turners fumble pretty much sumed up the game 4 us but all that he does 4 us u cant just go and blame this loss on Turner and say that he sucks or watever u have 2 say about him. Give him his credit. Everybody messes up every once in a while. Talking about the patriots red zone issues we need 2 fix our issues when we cross the 50 yard line we cant move the ball anymore. The hardcore loyalist could find a silver lining in steaming pile of cow flop--and there's nothing wrong with that. The bandwagoners, on the other hand, think that the season is lost and the Falcons will finish dead last--and there's definitely something wrong with that.Then, there are those of us who are caught in the middle. We're the realists. The ones who love, live, & die with the Falcons, but will call a game like we see it. We express frustration at games like this, that were simply given away, rather than out and out lost. Somehow, that usually results in the hardcore loyalists lumping us in with the bandwagoners. Please don't make that mistake, folks. We're tuning in next week, ready to root for the good guys again.And, lest we get ahead of ourselves, everybody--our primary goal and expectation for this season, before a Super Bowl, even before the playoffs, should be to get to win number 9 and secure back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in franchise history. Bucs r nowhere 2 be found anymore and Panthers cant hang with Jake Delhomme starting QB. I wish we could trade 2 get some better corners. I want the dolphins rookie corner shaun smith i really like him. Big bodied and pretty smart. We need big corners so we can play more 1-on-1 and put more pressure on the QB. I also wish we would have kept Michael Boley. IDK y we let him go. Hes young very good and fast as a LB. We got a nice replacement 4 Brooking in Peterson and Curtis Lofton is a nice young LB but we still need help in the LB possition and CB position. Really need 2 study more tape 2 because i dont think we know what each team is trying 2 do in each situation especially short situations. They consistently made the Pats kick field goals. I think the offense was the downfall of the defense today. I don't see our offense scoring less than 20 for the rest of the year. The Patriots are a good team, but not today, they were good enough to beat us.I think questioning someone's loyalty to a team is laughable at best. I think any fan would be upset today. Calling into question some calls and hating the fumble is only natural and that's part of what these forums are for. Yeah and today we did suck.The fumble was to most probably the key play of the game. So one would be PO'd about it. And (hard to believe) PO'd enough to gripe about it here. Turner has fumbled twice in three games. When did that happen last year? What would you say about a running back who fumbled every 1.5 games and at times could have severely hurt our chances to win. I'm not pinning a loss on any one player and I won't. There were a lot of missed opportunites by coaches and players today.If someone quits liking a team after a performance like this, than they aren't even a bandwagon fan, they're not even a fan period.Die hard fans are going to be very frustrated after a performance like today. So anyone that trashes Turner for fumbling, single covering Moss 10yds off the line on a key down, Not going for it on 4th, D as a whole, etc...(the list goes on) is a bandwagon fan? I mean despite their recent problems, these weren't patsies (pun intended) we were playing. They were the Patriots coming off a loss and playing at home in weather they are more used to than we are. It really does disappoint me to see this board like it is right now with fingers being pointed, the "sky is falling mentality" and everything else. People it's one game! There are thirteen more to go and we won't win all of them but I bet we win our fair share. I agree wholeheartedly with the original post. Matt Ryan #2 Posted September 27, 2009 Share Posted September 27, 2009 No the offense didnt really hurt the defense 2day. We move the ball pretty easily on almost every drive until the 50 yard line. The special teams hurt the falcons defense 2day and it all started on the 1st punt when koenen gave them good field position on that punt that went off the side of his foot. The defense held them 2 field goals but thats not good enough. If they can stop them when they get close 2 the endzone why cant they stop them before field goal range. Our run defense is just terrible and our pass D has improved but it is still not very good. Corners r 2 small thats all i think it is. When your saftey is making every tackle on a run then u have problems. I think Peria helped us with that alot in the 1st week. And we really need Harry Douglas back 2.
