I don't really know about modern folk, they're kinda bluegrass/country /folk, but I love Old Crow Medicine show.

I have LONG been a fan of songwriters so I love John Prine and stuff like that. He's not so modern tho.

I have heard a few songs by Chris Knight and I am a fan of what I have heard. He reminds me of Steve Earle' who to me is one of THE great American songwriters.

NPR is great on friday nights because I "discover" a lot of newer folks and then forget their names. :P

I think the first time I saw Ray I was flipping through channels and Austin City Limits was on and there's this incredibly shy looking guy standing there talking with his voice cracking and nervous. Then he started singing and I WROTE THAT NAME DOWN :P
