I am so upset by all the negative crap being thrown out by Bierman;s groupies.. I felt I needed to post this separately. I love Bierman but he is being used absolutely as he should be used and I applaud the staff for not giving into fan pressure and supporting Jamaal Anderson:

JAMAAL ANDERSON IS OUR BEST STARTING LDE. He plays the strong side.

Bierman is a beast on special teams and we need him just as much in that role than as an every down DE. We have a great rotation that worked worderfully week 1. Bierman is a high motor guy and he played well as he was fresh! JA keeps him rested for teams and the Pass rush package where he is best.

We have a great rotation in our D Line. You guys need to grow up, accept it and stop alienating Anderson.

He has put in his work and is an integral part of this team.

He is not a superstar but he is fuctional and works well in this rotation. Get over it.

This is a non issue.

Accept that we have two functional players at the position with different skill sets who have found a way to coexist beautifully.

Like it or not. Jamaal Anderson is a part of this team and has been a team player. He has made the team and should be supported.

We need to stop ridiculing his weaknesses and embrace his strengths as he has not cost us any games we should win so far, nor do I think he will. He has accepted being replaced on passing downs by Bierman and is a TEAM player.

I love Bierman, but he does not have the size to be an everydown DE. He is what he is. A special teams Demon and a pass rush specialist. The fact that JA can rest him on run downs is a good thing.

Support the TEAM not individual players. JA is a part of this team so I really wish you guys can get over it.

I did and I for one thought he was a goner as well. If Chanuncey had performed up to snuff, maybe he would've been.

Fact remains Jamaal played 53% of the snaps while CD only got on the field for 37% (Sidbury 3%)

These numbers are telling.

Go post some negative crap on Chauncey Davis. He's the guy who hasn't shown up yet.

Why does he get a free pass?

Good luck, but I'm not co-signing. I don't disagree that he should start, but I cannot support his very limited demonstrated skill set after he's had the benefit of extra attention from the coaching staff and beyond. I'm cool with the D-line by committee approach, but his inability to put it all together keeps us from doing all we can as a unit.

No way that he should not only be starting LDE, but a four down rusher as well. But he's not.

I could care less who is listed as the starter, but I will say that I think Bierman is better than Jamaal Anderson because he works harder, not because he has better physical talent. I find it disappointing that a player that was given 15 mil guaranteed hasn't put in the work, regardless of the fact that he has been able to barely hold onto his starting role.

Agreed. But he is here and under contract. He was recruited to Arkansas as a WR then outgrew the position. McKay brought this guy in based on potential and he has been a project ever since. Transitioning form WR to DE is far from easy. I can't imagine what this must be like as the skill sets are radically different.

That said, JA has outplayed Chauncey and deserves to be here. Fact is Bierman was never given the opportunity to start at LDE as Smitty envisioned Bierman in the role he is in. ST Demon and Pass rush specialist.

That said, I think the level of animosity towards JA is unwarranted and unfair. He and Bierman play the same position but were never intended to compete for the same job. Different skill sets.

My last point is the most important. We need to support the TEAM. The TEAM concept is the most important and the last thing we need is a large part of the fan base sowing the seeds of division between teamates who have proven that they can coexist.

DEFENSE is a TEAM concept and indidual accolades should be put aside for Team goals. The very fact that the Linebackers all posted high tackle numbers (Lofton 11, Peterson 8, Nicholas7) says the DL did their job. Jamaal Anderson was a part of that and for my two cents, he did his job and is undeserving of the vitrios attacks he has been recieving.

Chauncey deserves the flak more than Jamaal as he showed up overweight and out of shape. He more than any other DL has been the biggest disappointment for me and he has gotten a free pass.

Anyway, thanks for posting. JA is not the second coming of Bruce Smith, but he is our LDE and he is a Falcons starter.

Support him and the TEAM.

JA was abig part of our win Sunday. The last thing we want is him out freelancing trying to make plays while the defence is designed to funnel everything back to the linebackers.

He is the antithesis of Aundray Bruce and thank God for that!

I think it's fine to disagree with the coaches regarding the depth chart, but I'd agree the topic of Jamaal Anderson has been beaten to death. Whether Jamaal has played the first play of the game or not, which is pretty much the only thing that being a "starter" means, has not determined a single Atlanta Falcons football game.

LoMex, I don't disagree with anything you said except the animosity being unwarranted or unfair. Fans expect a lot from the players on their teams and in two-plus years, he should be much closer to putting it all together than he is. I don't think he deserves to be called names or blamed for not being a defensive force but I can certainly sympathize with those who are frustrated with him. I save my darts for Rich McKay, though, not JA98.

For me, this is Jamaal's last season to prove himself. Watching the preseason games and the Miami game, he has made significant improvement and has had some good moments. I hope he continues to improve and gets qb sacks and pressures and can solidify his spot as LDE and with backups and Biermann and Davis, our ends will be very solid in every aspect (run and pass).

Chauncey's contract will force TD to decide what to do with him. Hopefully, he wakes up and starts ballin' hard so we can trade him for an asset at the end of the season.

What? Overweight and outta shape? Did I miss that memo? I think so.

Busterson vs Chauncey (2007-2009 Regular Season Only):

Busterson - 32 starts, 57 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 FF

Chauncey - 1 start, 56 tackles, 6 sacks, 1 FF

LMAO

He is the antithesis of Aundray Bruce and thank God for that!

Busterson vs Bruce (first two seasons)

Busterson - 31 starts, 57 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 FF

Bruce - 29 starts, 136 tackles, 12 sacks, 3 INTs, 4 FFs, 1 FR

Just totally LMAO

Thanks guys. I agree. This is a make or break year for both JA and Chauncey but I think the real threat will come form Sidbury. I think Bierman was brought in to complement AND replace Abraham on the weakside where his skill set is perfect. Abes got nicked up some last year and rotating Bierman should keep him healthy. Both were slightly over 50% on snaps so it was a good PT distribution.

I see us two deep on the weakside and fuctional on the strong side. I really hope Sidbury pans out or one of the two vets really steps up.

That said. Lofton played 100% of th snaps. That stat is also telling.

Anyway, keep up a positive discussion on our TEAM. I think this is the year we go to the dance!

I feel exactly the opposite. I fell like McKay drafted a guy with the physical talent, and he just hasn't improved his technique sufficiently to become a force.

As an NBA fan, I realized that Harold Minor and Isaiah Rider ran faster and jumped higher than Michael Jordan when they were drafted, but I knew before they set foot on the pro court that neither would be another Michael Jordan. Measurable attributes mean zip unless the player has demonstrated the ability to use them. If he was drafted #8 in round two, it still would have been McKay's mistake, IMO.

JA98 made a few good plays on Sunday including the tipped pass. Of all the Falcons DLers, he manages to get his hands up in the passing lanes the most.

I, for one, do not question JA98's effort or the decision to start him however I am far from satisfied with his productivity. I am sure that the coaches and JA98 would agree with that sentiment. If he doesn't improve a lot during this season, then I look for another defensive line pick in next year's draft.

Co-sign. I believe this sums it up very well.

We are a better defense with both guys sharing snaps than we would be with either one logging all the snaps.

Time to stop crying over spilt milk kids, we need to move on to what is happening now which is good for the team, good for the defense and therefore good for winning.

What a great problem to have too many good DEs.......this is a rarity and a luxury . I was terrified past year for either one of ouyr DEs to go down injured...now, we have players on the depth shart that can step in and start some games if we need.

I'm freaking stoked about our entire DL rotation and how it dominated the line of scrimmage. If it continues to play like that on run and passing downs, the LBs and secondary all will profit large from it.

Well Jamaal Anderson had 13 sacks in the best football conference, so he seemed to be demonstrating ability to use his skills in college.
