Kroy Bierman looked great in preseason and the first game. He should start opposite Abraham instead of waiting on Jamaal Anderson to get better.
Good luck bro. You might need this:

Last 12 Falcon games - 7 regular season, 4 preseason and 1 playoff

(doesn't include FFs, FRs, TFLs, PDs or QHs)

Abraham - 11 starts, 14 tackles and 7.5 sacks

Busterson - 8 starts, 13 tackles and 1.0 sack

Chauncey - 3 starts, 24 tackles and 4.0 sacks

Beer Man - 0 starts, 39 tackles and 5 sacks

Look at the amount of snaps for Anderson and Biermann and tell me what the big deal about starting is!? It's a rotation, you could start Davis and Biermann and still Abe would be on the field 60% of the time, it doesn't really matter ... the only person that should be concerned about the "starter"-tag at DLine spots is the player himself.

If you'd say "Take the 2nd and 10 snap in the 4t quarter away from JA98 and give it to Biermann, because it's likely a pass-play", I'm fine with that ... but if you look at Anderson's snaps, 95% are in likely running situations and he is a good run-stopper, so it does make sense to have him out there ... when you just look at down and distance, you'll see that he's not on the field for 95% of the passing-downs.

Here's the big deal about starting

1. As per Smitty, you put your best players on the field. Biermann>>>>>>> Busterson

2. Statistics show that the team that scores first wins a high percentage of games. Sometimes the opening drive can decide a game

3. There is a certain status tied to being a starter. In the locker room, in the media and in a player's wallet

4. Smitty said the LDE spot was open for competition. The Beer Man outperformed Busterson and Chauncey in the preseason and in the first game. He needs to keep his word

5. Teams throw in running situations a lot. The Beer Man is playing the run as good if not better than Busterson and can rush the passer way better

6. Sometimes it takes a few snaps to figure an opponent out. Starters get a chance to do that earlier in a game than back ups

7. Starters usually get more snaps. Your best players should get the snaps.

8. We are starting the All Time Top 10 NFL DE Bust in front of two players that consistently out play him

The splits on snaps at DE last week were 33, 31, 30, 22 and 2. They should have been 33, 33 33, 19 and 0.

The faster and more you knock the QB on his butt the less he settles into a rhythm and the more mistakes he makes. That's why you put your best in at the beginning of a game to establish dominance on offense and defense.

Look at the chart (or if you don't trust the chart rewatch the game), Anderson was in for the first play against a run-first team ... guess what, he's good against the run (better than Davis or Biermann) ... after that play, he was replaced by Biermann for the next 2 snaps.

Our staff is trying to use everybody's strengths and I wouldn't be surprised to see Biermann out there for the first snap against a team like the Saints, since they're a passing team.

You people are crazy if you think we're going to have an opportunity to rush the passer early in this game.

The Panties will be doing everything in their power to establish the run early so that 1) they don't have to put the ball in Delhomme's hands to win...and 2) control TOP to keep our offense off the field.

Because of this, we need to put our best run defenders to begin this game. At least, that is, until our offense can put up some numbers on the board. Once that happens, and it will happen, we can put our best pass rushers out there to harrass Delhomme.

Let's say that 'Busterson' STARTS Sunday because Carolina is going to attempt to establish a running game.

But because he is a good run stopper, Carolina changes their offensive scheme to passing because they've fallen behind because of the planning put forth by Smitty & Co. Bring in Bierman and not just occasionally but often because he has pass rushing skills that 'Busterson' lacks.

I wouldn't touch the scheme Smitty & Co. are using with a ten foot pole. Just because "Beer Man" isn't slated as a starter doesn't make him any less effective and making a huge difference for what his job is in the first place.

Some Fans just hate players and this is one of the cases. If you or anybody on this board actually thinks that Biermann is better at playing the run than JA98 than you are sadly mistaken.

He is our best run-defending DE. If you want to leave Biermann in on 1st downs, why not leave Abraham in too? He is obviously the better player than Chauncey Davis.

It is good you are not the coach. Good players are only good when they are rested and in a situation to make plays. This rotation of JA98/Davis on run downs and Biermann/Abraham on pass downs satisfies both needs. We are playing to everybody's strengths and they are always well rested.

If you want to take away from Biermann's effectiveness simply because of your hate of Anderson, you are an idiot. If Biermann was playing every down it is no way he would be as good. They are all playing to their strengths and we should keep it that way. NOTHING should change.

Thank you. People don't realize that there's an advantage to rushing from RDE and that advantage serves Biermann well. We've only played one game, the TEAM played very well. It ain't broke yet, folks, so stop thinking you know how to fix it.

My only answer is you guys are watching the games through Busterson colored glasses.

The Beer Man is doing a fine job against the run this year. From the left side and the right side.

Busterson is not nearly the run stopping beast you guys think he is. He has ONE freakin TFL in his life. He had 14 tackles in his last 8 starts. The Beer Man had 39 in the same span with ZERO starts.

WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!!!!

I'd say ... your hate has taken over and you don't think straight anymore when it comes to Anderson.

The Beer Man has 5 sacks in his last 12 games. 4 came from the LDE spot. Almost all of his tackles, FFs, QHs and TFLs came from the LDE spot. What are you talking about? Seriously bro.

Pretty sure Biermann only has 4 career sacks, but still a pretty interesting stat.

Carolina 'supposedly' has one of the best OL's in the NFL although the Eagles' "D" owned them in Week 1. Of course the Eagles have what can be called an 'Elite Defense' of sorts. Our scheme of keeping the DL 'fresh' can make a huge difference this Sunday. Jordan Gross will be in the Predator's face and Abe is seemingly on a mission after leaving Long and Pennington in his wake in Week 1.

In all honesty, I think it's harder to prepare to block 2-3 different talents on defense than just one so it's all good.

Can you supply some stats, vids or play by plays that I can check that support this mythical notion? I didn't think so.

You can rewatch games ... a good run-stopper doesn't always have to make the tackle himself (you can ask any coach if you don't trust me), sometimes he has the assignment just to free up the linebacker behind him by not letting his man (or sometimes even 2) get to the second level. It's not flashy, but somebody has to do it.

To really know what Anderson's assignment against the run is, we would have to ask Van Gorder and I somehow doubt he'd tell us.

JAMAAL ANDERSON IS OUR BEST STARTING LDE. He plays the strong side. Bierman is a beast on special teams and we need him just as much on ST. We have a great rotation that worked worderfully week 1. Bierman is a high motor guy and he played well as he was fresh! JA keeps him rested for teams and the Pass rush package where he is best.

We have a great rotation in our D Line. You guys need to grow up, accept it and stop alienating Anderson.

He has put in his work and is an integral part of this team.

He is not a superstar but he is fuctional and works well in this rotation. Get over it.

This is a non issue.

Accept that we have two functional players at the position with different skill sets who have found a way to coexist beautifully.

Like it or not. Jamaal Anderson is a part of this team and has been a team player. He has made the team and should be supported.

We need to stop ridiculing his weaknesses and embrace his strengths as he has not cost us any games we should win so far, nor do I think he will. He has accepted being replaced on passing downs by Bierman and is a TEAM player.

I love Bierman, but he does not have the size to be an everydown DE. He is what he is. A special teams Demon and a pass rush specialist. The fact that JA can rest him on run downs is a good thing.

Support the TEAM not individual players. JA is a part of this team so I really wish you guys can get over it.

I did and I for one thought he was a goner as well. If Chanuncey had performed up to snuff, maybe he would've been.

Go post some negative crap on Chauncey Davis. He's the guy who hasn't shown up.

Why does he get a free pass?
