Rev_Hal
First off, I want to apologize to the MBGT group. Nicole and I were both down with the flu this weekend and had to miss the entire weekend. We are truly heartbroken as we missed time with Mozzie – one of my true friends in this world. But such is life. We will be there in spades next year. Now onto the game.1. For the record, I TOLD YOU SO!!!! I told everyone a week ago that is was not time to panic about our defense. I had no idea they would have been as spectacular as they were yesterday, but I’ll take it. There was not an aspect of our D play that was lacking. Fantastic job to Van Gorder and the players!2. Kudos to the Miami front 7 for shutting down the run. That is one of the most formidable defensive fronts we will face this year. They plugged the gaps and shut down the run until the 4th quarter. Sometimes a good defense will do that to us.3. What was so fantastic to see was with the run game shut down, we won through the air. Ryan is a self-admitted slow starter and was a little rusty on the opening drive. But when you look at the overall play of the QB’s in the NFL yesterday, Ryan was pretty great. He managed the game and made plays. He distributed the ball around. He is great now, and is still young and improving. Folks, this is the QB we have always dreamed of. Embrace it.4. All the talk of Ryan regressing is retarded. If you are promoting that idea, you obvious are either wishing Ryan to fail or have some other agenda. Drop it. He is a star.5. Under no circumstances should Ovie ever be allowed to perform a TD dance ever again. Never ever ever. That dance scared small children. All I could think of as I uncomfortably watched was “CA CAWWW!!! CA CAWWW!!!”. If he ever tries a TD dance again. Gonzo needs to go kick him in his twig and berries.6. Hands down, the MVP and recipient of the game ball this week goes to one man – Thomas Dimitroff. Without the acquisition of Peterson and Gonzo, this win does not happen. Williams was solid in the secondary. Jerry was having a great game until he got hurt. TD is the Nostradamus of talent evaluation in the NFL, ad we are lucky to have him. Blank needs to pay that boy whatever he wants.7. In my opinion, I would rank of DE’s in this order:AbrahamBiermanDavisAndersonWe need to find a way to get Abraham and Bierman on the field at the same time more often.8. Another kudos to the defense for shutting down the Mildcat. Other than the blown coverage of the Pat White bomb (than goodness he overthrew the receiver by 10 yards), Miami had no luck with their gimmick offense.9. I have no idea what was wrong with Jason Elam, but that was bizarre. I will assume that Sunday was a fluke bad game for him and that he will return to form next week. 10. You have no idea how I am going to party when we get our 9th win this season. I need to start planning, because it is going to happen this year! Peyton
All very good points. Matt Ryan would probably be the first to tell you that he deserved about a C grade for passing accuracy yesterday, but his decision making was A+ all day long. I can't remember a single time all day when he threw a pass and I said "oh no, he shouldn't have thrown that:.He'll get the accuracy cleaned up, it's not suprising to see the accuracy struggles in the first game. Life is good.
falcon82
I'd like to add:11) The play of our DTs was very good too ... they ate double teams, played the run very well and still found a way to create pressure.

You have no idea how I am going to party when we get our 9th win this season. I need to start planning, because it is going to happen this year!1. Yep - I tried as well - but some just don't get it. Don't judge a team by preseason. Give them a few games into regular season before making judgements. Being as this Defense is so young, the vets will carry it for the most part until they come together as one. This defense will have ups and downs during the process - but I see wonderful things happening out there.2. That is an excellent defense in all aspects. They were gang tackling Turner and really deserve some credit. What I love about Mularkey and Turner - they don't stop when they are stopped - keep rushing - keep hitting - wear down the defense - eventually, you start to move - as Turner did towards the end of the game, which helped run the clock out in the end. I was proud of Turner - he was taking a beating, but kept pushing hard.3. QFT - 100%4. QFT - 110%5. After I settled down from the Touchdown - I was shaking my head and rolling in laughter. Funniest thing I've ever seen. Cracked me up.6. QFT - 120%7. I like the way we use our DE's. Rotation is good. I do like the idea of Abe and Bierman on the field together, but I still like Anderson - especially against the run. Loved that pass he knocked down as well. Not sure he'll ever be a real pass rusher - so maybe DE is not the best name for him - but he contributes and he does get pressure. That's all I'll say about that. All our D looked great yesterday, though!8. LMFAO - I kept thinking of Jack Fanny calling us Tweety Birds - then I was thinking Wildcat? Huh? I tout I taw a putty tat!!!! 9. I am putting it down to a really bad outing. I don't think it's a trend. I think he snaps back next week.10. INVITE ME!!!! This is the year!!! Money Lee
7. In my opinion, I would rank of DE’s in this order:AbrahamBiermanDavisAndersonWe need to find a way to get Abraham and Bierman on the field at the same time more often.I'd have to disagree here....Oddly enough, Davis is the man and the outside looking in. He played the least of those in that 4 man DE rotation, which was appropriate. Soon enough, he'll be surpassed by Sidbury. Which, unless you're Davis, is a good thing. As far as Bierman ahead of Anderson, they're 1a and 1b. Anderson is who he is, a stud against the run. He was in the backfield on several occasions yesterday, and he's capable of consistently collapsing the pocket, but lacks the final burst necessary to make the play. Bierman is much more of a fluid athlete and has that explosion to get the the QB. It was great to see the birth of another terrific pass rusher here in Atlanta. I'd like to see him against the run to see if he is a complete lineman or a pass running specialist.

Other than the blown coverage of the Pat White bomb (than goodness he overthrew the receiver by 10 yards), Miami had no luck with their gimmick offense. The coverage was still decent on that play considering no man was uncovered. The Wildcat tries to confuse defenders in a way that someone gets left uncovered, or late covered. He was under double coverage, but I dont think our guys expected Ted Ginns explosiveness, dude is fast I'm just happy Pat White blew that one horribly My theory is that he put his shoes on backwards.

gritsnsausage
Ok, I'm one who will stand up and say "You're right, I was wrong, crow eaten." I really liked what I saw from our defense,REALLY. Best thing to me was when Miami did get pretty good blocking up front, the corners were on their receivers like glue.Kudos to the D backfield. If Matty Ice could warm up a little more, we'd have been up 14-0 on-the-quick in this one. Love to see them working with himin warm ups, etc. and get him really ready for game start. Otherwise, you're right, he's looking very good.Yes, kudo's to Miami for stuffing the run. Obviously they had a goal of "Turner isn't going to beat us". They stuck with itand did a good job of it. Also, for us, luckily the play calling saw this and it gave us our first TD (whole team concentratingon Turner).Elam.... Well, we all have off days. Hopefully he's gotten this out of his system.Next week is going to be another type of challenge. I'm certain Steve Smith is going to bring his A game. We've got to keephim in-check. Embrace it.Outside of the defense flying around I think this is one of the most important things from yesterday. When the running game would get shut down in previous years it only then the passing game was quick to follow. Squeezing out a couple of field goals was the best a Falcon could hope for.I believe a certain amount of credt should go to Mularkey. He didn't feel the need to go all "Inspector Gadget" too much. He simply had enough adjustments prepared to put the points on the board.
