Perrish Cox on the climb

Recommended Posts

OSU’s list of elite defensive backs is heavy on safeties, with few cornerbacks in the conversation.

Beyond R.W. McQuarters, Kevin Williams (the other Kevin Williams), Darrent Williams, Melvin Gilliam, Roderick Fisher and Chris Rockins, few other corners are worthy of mention.

Current Cowboy Perrish Cox has a chance, if his improved play in the opener against Georgia is an indicator. Pro scouts agree. A look at views on Cox:

→Preseason: ESPN Scouts Inc. pegged Cox as the No. 71 player overall and the No. 10 cornerback.

→Now: While ESPN hasn’t updated its rankings, at nfldraftscout.com Cox is on the rise as the No. 5 corner and the No. 26 player overall.

The talk

→ "His play against Georgia super sophomore A.J. Green put him on the fast track to a first-round slot.”

— nfldraftscout.com

→ "If he keeps it up, he could very well play himself into the first round of the draft come April.”

— Rick Serritella, nfldraftbible.com
