They signed Chase Daniel on Sunday night and he'll run the scout team. He'll also have the inside track on moving to the 53-man roster if anything happens to Brees or Brunell. They announced Sunday night they have agreed to terms with veteran defensive back Brian Williams, who spent the last three seasons with Jacksonville, including two seasons with Atlanta coach Mike Smith, who previously was the Jaguars’ defensive coordinator. Williams has experience at safety and cornerback. “Brian Williams is a veteran player who gives us versatility in the secondary with the ability to play both cornerback and safety,” general manager Thomas Dimitroff said. “Adding Brian to our roster is consistent with our plan to improve our team when the opportunity presents itself.”Atlanta Falcons, Tye Hill, Brian Williams--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Panthers tried to claim three other playersSeptember 6, 2009 7:33 PMPosted by ESPN.com’s Pat Yasinskas We reported earlier that the Carolina Panthers had claimed defensive tackle Ra’Shon “Sonny’’ Harris and running back Tyrell Sutton off waivers Sunday.
