Duckett cut in Seattle

I remember when we thought this guy was gonna be good. Dunn/Duckett debate was almost as bad as Vick/Schaub.

"The Seattle Seahawks signed veteran running back Edgerrin James on Tuesday night, hoping that he can help revive a rushing offense that generally has been dormant since February 2006, when Shaun Alexander was the NFL MVP and led the franchise to its only Super Bowl appearance.

Earlier Tuesday, the Seahawks waived fellow veteran running back T.J. Duckett to clear roster space for James.

"It's official! Congrats to Edgerrin James on signing a 1 year deal with the Seahawks," James' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, posted on Twitter late Tuesday.

James, who's 31, ranks 11th on the NFL rushing list with 12,121 yards, but the Arizona Cardinals benched him for the first time in his career last season. James is expected to practice for the first time with the Seahawks on Wednesday.

Duckett confirmed to The Associated Press in a text message Tuesday night that he had been released. Seattle was at its preseason roster limit and had to shed someone to add James.

Duckett, who played for current Seahawks coach Jim Mora and offensive coordinator Greg Knapp with the Atlanta Falcons from 2004 to 2005, led Seattle with eight rushing touchdowns last season. However, he didn't start a game in his only season with the Seahawks, and former coach Mike Holmgren relegated Duckett almost exclusively to being a short-yardage back."
