Rapid Reports for Tye Hill

6:27:00 pm The Rams were banking on more than 21 starts and four interceptions over three seasons when they drafted CB Tye Hill as the No. 15 overall pick in 2006. He’s back manning the right side after missing the final 12 games of last year with a knee injury.

12:38:35 pm Rams CB Tye Hill missed the last 12 games of 2008 with a knee injury. He’s working with the first team, but coach Steve Spagnuolo may have sent him a message by saying he’s not guaranteed a spot on the team.

12:12:43 pm The offense of new Rams offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur has looked good. In full-contact scrimmage this morning, the goal-line offense scored on four of five possessions. The only stop was a Tye Hill interception thrown by Marc Bulger.

4:55:39 pm The Rams are strong at safety with James Butler and O.J. Atogwe, but they’ll need fifth- and sixth-year CBs Ron Bartell and Tye Hill to step forward. Coach Steve Spagnuolo’s style of pressing with the corners and blitzing often puts pressure on that position.

2:11:11 pm Along with Jonathan Wade, the Rams have spent high draft picks on four other CBs over the last five years: Ron Bartell (Rd. 2, '05), Tye Hill (Rd. 1, '06), Justin King (Rd. 4, '08) and Bradley Fletcher (Rd. 3, '09).

11:57:50 am Rams cornerbacks and third-round draft picks Bradley Fletcher (2009) and Jonathan Wade (2007) appear to have separated themselves slightly from a logjam on the depth chart. Both are working with the second-team defense behind starters Tye Hill and Ron Bartell.

11:07:16 am Rams CB Tye Hill has injured his right knee. He limped off the field after attempting to break up a pass. His knee was already heavily taped, and the training staff has iced it. Hill, the starting right corner, has played in just 11 combined games the last two seasons. Both years he was placed on IR.

12:00:51 pm Rams CB Tye Hill is dealing with swelling in his right knee. Coach Steve Spagnuolo didn't give a timetable for Hill's return. Hill missed the last half of practice after trying to break up a pass and landing awkwardly.

3:53:42 pm Rams CB Tye Hill is back on the field for afternoon practice. The right-side starter missed the latter half of the morning workout because of swelling in his surgically repaired right knee.

4:31:13 pm Rams CB Tye Hill was doing a lot of talking to receivers in today's practice. It's time for him to back it up. With just 94 tackles and four interceptions in three seasons, the No. 15 overall pick in 2006 is nearing "bust" status.

4:08:38 pm CB Jonathan Wade continues to get more time working with the Rams first team, alternating with Tye Hill. Since being drafted No. 15 overall in 2006, Hill hasn't lived up to his first-round status. Wade was a third-round pick in 2007.

3:20:47 pm Rams SS James Butler wasn't in practice today, but it was good news. He became a father this morning to a baby boy. Coincidentally, Butler co-owns a Golden Corral restaurant in Warner Robins, Ga with CB Tye Hill, who was traded today to the Falcons.

2:58:19 pm Don't be surprised if the Rams bring in a cornerback. After the Tye Hill trade, Coach Steve Spagnuolo wouldn't talk about players on the roster who are in line to get more playing time, including presumed starter Jonathan Wade. "Obviously, there's a possible move," Spags said. "But that may or may not happen."

2:53:11 pm Coach Steve Spagnuolo declined to give details on the Rams' trade, saying only that the team got "a draft pick" from the Falcons in return for CB Tye Hill, who was the No. 15 overall pick in 2006. He declined to name the year or the round.

12:21:30 pm The Rams have traded CB Tye Hill to the Atlanta Falcons, GM Billy Devaney announced minutes ago. A No. 15 overall pick in 2006, Hill had been an unproductive player for the Rams, with just four interceptions in three years.

It sounds like they were really high on Wade from what I read and maybe injury concerns and Wades ability to fit Spagnuolo's scheme led to him being traded.
