Fah_Q
I was at the game, so I didn't have the liberty of DVR rewinding and instant replays for every play, but I remember Adkins making a nice tackle while lined up at LB. He is fast and beastly. Obviously, he's still very raw, but what is the general consensus on him this year? Does he make the squad and contribute on special teams and ultimately provide depth at LB late in the season, does he make the practice squad, or is he cut?Personally, I want to keep him around. His upside seems huge. Not to mention, we can definitely use his speed at linebacker. There were some ugly misses last week due to lack of elite speed out of some of our LB's. What do you all think? Clark Kent™
Im a big Adkins supporter and i know what play you are talking about. He does have great speed, but has had litle opportunity to show it so i dont know if we keep him or not. He is definitley one of the guys on the roster bubble. Maybe if he gets some more PT in our last game he can solidify a spot at LB. If not i am sure he'd be a great special teamer.
Jaymadd
I do know that Spencer Adkins was on ever Kickoff Unit, I dont think he can up with any tackles but he was getting alot of reps. I love Adkins speed and he displayed in late in the game when he made a tackle on the RB on a screen play, which had been killing us all game, his closing speed was great on that play. I think that he may make the 53 man roster but he will definitley be on the PS.

Futhermucker87
I think he will get his chance to prove him self in this last preseason game.
Knight of God
I hope he gets on the field next game to really show you guys what he's all about. He's really worth a fourth....seriously.
atljbo
Yup... I was shock.....Normally the players that make the 53 man roster play the 3rd game...... I believe TDknow that if Spencer Adkins get release the steelers will most likely sign him (The Steelers were very very high on Spencer Adkins predraft) ......The Steelers hosted four college prospects in preparation for next weekend's NFL draft: Ball State quarterback Nate Davis. Oregon State offensive lineman Andy Levitre, Miami (Fla.) linebacker Spencer Adkins and Temple wide receiver/return specialist Travis Shelton. The Steelers have met with 27 out-of-area prospects, and they are allowed to host 30 such visits prior to the draft. Today is the last day NFL teams are permitted to meet with college prospects. - Scott Brown, Tribune-ReviewLinkAdkins had pre-draft visits with the Falcons, Indianapolis Colts, New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers. Adkins said UM linebackers coach Micheal Barrow, a former NFL player, told him that teams could see his ability on film, and his performance at the pro-day workout just reinforced it. Naples High coach Bill Kramer said the Steelers had a "per-play production'' stat and that Adkins' results were "off the charts.''LinkILB Spencer Adkins, Miami (5-foot-11, 230 pounds)It looks like Miami’s streak of having a player selected in the first round will finally come to an end, but it doesn’t mean the Hurricanes don’t have talent to offer. One player who has risen up draft boards is Adkins, who had a productive workout at the Miami pro day and now has a shot to hear his name called late. He’s a bit undersized but possesses elite straight-line speed (4.48) for the position and consistently makes plays sideline to sideline. When I watch Adkins on tape, he plays just as fast as he times and does a great job closing on the football and making plays away from his frame. He isn’t the most instinctive linebacker and struggles occasionally diagnosing plays, but he showcases the speed to consistently get himself in position to find the ball. He may be a bit scheme limited and looks to fit in best as a Cover 2 guy, but you can’t ignore his ability to make plays behind the line of scrimmage and get after the ball. Adkins finished the season second on the Hurricanes in sacks (four) and will bring some pass-rush ability to an NFL team at the next level. He’s never going to be an ideal MLB who can read and react quickly to plays, but what he gives you is an excellent athlete who has great range, can help get after the passer and be a demon on special teams. If he does make the 53 then it means that either Wiborn, or Wire wont be on the 53 and i have a hard time believing that we dont keep both of those guys. I think that he can sneak by on the practice sqaud unless the Giants pick him up.

Jaymadd
I think the Steelers will sneak him on their roster if we release him........I wonder will TD take that chance. I doubt that he signs to another teams Practice Squad but an offer to be on the 53 might be too enticing to resist, but the Steelers have enough LB talent already, and need as many spots as they can get for the Oline, just in case. Knight of God
If I were to have any say, this man would be groomed to take Peterson's place and be in roltation this year on blitz packages, but its starting to look like abunch of these dudes that we drafted may be playing elsewhere. I hope not, but you know how it goes.
DaMeatTroughsEgo
The 53 man roster is bigger than it seems at first glance. I'm going to post my mock roster

If he sign with a PS its going to be ours...... Thats the point... When you are set at the LB position you have the roster spot to groom a guy you like.... Check out their LB core.... They would have a spot for him

But just the fact that the Giants and Steelers are high on him would keep me from letting him go. Both of those teams have great LBers so you know that they know their stuff. Clark Kent™
Yep. Straight owned that RT. Just pushed him straight out the way. Then blows right past the LT. I think we can find use for a LB with his rushing capabilities.
Rodney
I don't know too much about Adkins....I only noticed that he is short in height and that undoubtly went against him in the draft. I have spoken to die hard Miami fans to get there opinion, and I have heard nothing but positive. They guy is fast and the guy can hit. Maybe we have a future Jessie The Hammer Tuggle in Adkins?
