Unknøwn
Tigers traded prospects to the Mariners for Jarrod WashurnBrewers traded a minor league catcher Vinny Rottino to the Dodgers for Claudio Vargas12:08pm: Yahoo's Tim Brown said it was a done deal, with the Twins sending Tyler Ladenorf to Oakland for Cabrera, but then quickly told me it's not done yet. USA Today's Bob Nightengale, via Twitter, says it's done.Cabrera, 34, is hitting .280/.318/.365 on the season in 448 plate appearances. He has $1.75MM remaining on his contract, once you factor in a $250K bonus for being dealt. Though he profiles as a Type A free agent after the season, Cabrera's agent wisely negotiated a clause disallowing his club to offer arbitration. So, no draft picks for the team for the loss and no impediment to signing Cabrera from the player's point of view.
Cable Guy
I really don't see much else happening during this non waiver deadline and I doubt any waiver trades get made.
Unknøwn
Only thing that may happen is a minor trade here and there or possibly a 3 team deal that would send Victor Martinez to Boston but even that seems unlikely right now and you might see NIck Johnson a Marlin
Goodoleboy58
Red Sox To Acquire Victor MartinezBy Tim Dierkes [July 31 at 1:27pm CST]1:27pm: FOX now says Clay Buchholz and Daniel Bard are not in this deal.12:55pm: USA Today's Bob Nightengale via Twitter: the Red Sox are about to acquire first baseman/catcher Victor Martinez from the Indians. Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse, trying to confirm, says it "looks good." FOX Sports agrees, and notes a lack of a third team involved. They also believe this kills the Adrian Gonzalez talks. Goodoleboy58
Braves Interested In Adam LaRocheBy Tim Dierkes [July 31 at 1:59pm CST]First baseman Adam LaRoche becomes expendable for Boston if they complete the Victor Martinez trade; Jon Heyman of SI tells us via Twitter that the Braves are interested. LaRoche came up with the Braves; they traded him to Pittsburgh for Mike Gonzalez and Brent Lillibridge in '07.

Warrior999
This might be one of those cash deals and some low grade prospect.
Goodoleboy58
what DOB says:David O'BrienJuly 31st, 20093:20 pmWhile LaRoche does have a career OPS about 90 points higher against righties than Kotchman, it’s only slightly better than Kotchman’s this season. And in terms of overall OPS, they are almost identical this season, LaRoche at .768 and Kotchman at .763. Laroche has twice as many homers (13) as Kotchman (6), but RBIs are almost identical (43-41) and Kotchman’s hit for a 44-point higher average for the season, .282 to .248.And Kotchman’s hit almost 100 points higher with RISP, .313 to .218.As a pinch-hitter, LaRoche is 12-for-55 (.218) with one homer and a .550 OPS in his career. That said, LaRoche is a lot better than Norton, in any role. And Kotchman has had some injuries and/or sickness. Be nice not having to move Prado to 1B if Kotchman misses a few games.
The Don™
i like Adam i just hope we didnt give up too much for himI think Casey might be gone in a three team deal. What is the point of having LaRoche AND Casey? Question is, who is the third team?

K26dp
LaRoche and Kotchman are almost the same player -- LaRoche has a little more pop, Kotch gets on base a little more. Hope we didn't trade anyone of value.
The Don™
If Adam's role is to replace Norton I love it!That would be ideal, but Adam is usually a BEAST in the 2nd half. As of NOW, i dont understand it...

dmite
I don't want to get rid of Kotchman, he's a better player in my opinion than LaRoche. He's starting to find his groove lately.

The Don™
Laroche to Atl and Kotchman to the Bosox from the Boston Globe. Why? I know Adam is a great 2nd half player, but does this mean that Freeman might be playing first base sometime for us next year?
