Aaron Kelly should make the team over Finneran

Recommended Posts

Let me be the first to say Im one of Brian Finneran biggest fans. He was a clutch wr that made some big grabs in 3rd down situations but his time has come. It was a great story last season him coming back from injury but with Kelly he is a younger version of a Finneran. Kelly also can return some kicks and give Norwood a break.

White

Jenkins

Douglas

Weems-(special teams)

Kelly

agree or disagree.

I would agree that Finneran is not a lock to make the team. It's going to be open competition between the guys behind White, Jenkins and Douglas.

I watched a lot of Clemson games and thought for sure Kelly would go in the late rounds. He could be a steal. I'd take him over Weems.

You see that sounds reasonable, I like that!

Brian is our 3rd down specialist! This is nonsense! If he isn't dropping balls and is still making plays why replace him. If it aint broke don't fix it.

He did have 16 catches last year on 3rd downs and that is key but Im sure a tall wr like Kelly can do the same and has great hands just like Finn.

Weems threw a few good blocks last year (that one that sprang HD on the end around comes to mind against Carolina) but didn't show much as a receiver. And he's under six feet tall. We seem to be acquiring receivers that are physically bigger targets.

I would think Finn is still an asset for at least one more year. Not a lock but he's got the edge over the young guys coming in.

Weems played some solid special teams last year ...that is why I think he will make the team.

Finn did help out in punt returns inside the 20 when we needed a sure handed return.

I agree I wouldnt be upset Finn making the team I just would like to see this kid Kelly get a shot

It really doesn't matter because if you have a QB that can make every throw you can win!

Weems over Finn? I just don't see it. Receivers generally take a couple of years to mature. Let Kelly take Weems spot on ST for a year or two and we'll see what we've got. I really like our current receiving corps and what each brings to the table.

1. Roddy White

2. Michael Jenkins

3. Harry Douglas

4. Brian Finneran (bubble)

5. Aaron Kelly (bubble)

6. Eric Weems (bubble)

I would say that Eric Weems and Aaron Kelly should "battle it out" for the last slot in the WR positions (assume Falcons carry 5). If Finn has a poor camp and starts looking old - then he could be the odd man out - but if its "close" I would leave Finn on the team - he's clutch and a good team guy.

Maybe we can stash him on the Practice Squad.

Do what?? DISAGREE...Explain why you would want to replace a veteran 3rd down, red zone threat with an UDFA??.....................this should be good!!
