Unknøwn
NEW YORK (AP) - Boston pitcher Josh Beckett has been suspended for six games and fined by Major League Baseball, which determined he intentionally threw a pitch near the head of the Los Angeles Angels' Bobby Abreu last week.Beckett also was cited for "aggressive actions" after the pitch that led to the benches clearing Sunday, according to Bob Watson, vice president for discipline in the commissioner's office. If Beckett appeals, any penalties would be delayed until after a hearing.Angels hitting coach Mickey Hatcher was suspended for one game and fined, and he was to serve the penalty Tuesday night. In addition, Watson fined Angels manager Mike Scioscia and players Torii Hunter and Justin Speier.

The_ATL
The little twat should have been bounced from the game last night. He wont get 6 games but 3 doesnt sound too far off. He started that whole thing and didnt even get punished for it (until now).

Goodoleboy58
the 6 games is only so he'll miss his rotation start... if they suspend him 3 games then they might as well just throw the whole case out... it'll hold up in appeal
ATLBrave
Like **** it won't. He should have been suspended for 6 STARTS.Seen much worse get less time than that. If Sammy only gets 1 game for using a corked bat, then the most Beckett is probably going to get is 3 games.

Plus, you can't be with the team during those games, which is a big deal to a lot of guys.

Cable Guy
I always disliked that suspension rule with pitchers. If a regular is suspended for 6 games he misses 6 games. Pitchers should be suspended for starts. MLB knows that teams use a 5 man rotation. It's only fair to make them miss just as much playing time as a regular. Just don't think what he did warranted a suspension IMO.

Unless you think NOT hitting somebody is worth a 6 game suspension. It was ridiculous that he even got repremanded. He didn't do anything wrong. He threw a wild pitch, that didn't even hit Abreu...wow, someone shoot the guy.
