Is Tony Gonzalez worth the Falcons’ 2nd-round pick?

7:36 pm April 13, 2009, by AJC

The Internet and sports talk radio were buzzing Monday about the possibility of the Falcons trading for All-Pro tight end Tony Gonzalez.

According to the National Football Post, the Falcons “are seriously considering” sending a second-round pick (No. 55 overall) to the Chiefs for the 33-year-old tight end.

The AJC’s D. Orlando Ledbetter looked into the rumors and found nothing concrete, but says things could “percolate” into something.

Gonzalez caught 96 passes for 1,058 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.

The Falcons’ top tight end Justin Peelle caught 15 passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns.

Would this be a good move for the Falcons?

No Gonzalez Conversations Yet Between KC-Falcons

Posted by Tom Curran: Tuesday, April 14, 2009 3:09 PM

The Falcons and Chiefs haven't talked about a deal that would send wide receiver Tony Gonzalez to Atlanta, according to two sources.

That's not to say that Atlanta wouldn't be happy to have a player of Gonzalez' ilk but that's been nothing more than a daydream to this point.

Michael Lombardi of the National Football Post reported Monday that this is a deal Atlanta is "seriously considering." And while they may be considering it, it hasn't - as of Tuesday afternoon - progressed past that.

We'll be keeping an eye and ear on this and will let you know if anything shakes out.
