Le Whiff

Recommended Posts

The ultimate winespeak wet dream, all dollops of vanilla and whiffs of cassia, has come one step closer to reality with the announcement of a new invention - a hedonistic inhaler from Harvard. Called Le Whiff, with a charming nod at French pretention, it dispenses chocolate-flavoured powder housed in a small plastic cylinder which users inhale.

Invented by Professor David Edwards from Harvard, it is the result of research “inspired by thinking beyond normal ways of eating food and into the future” according to the Telegraph.

Which goes on to quote Dave noting “over the centuries we’ve been eating smaller and smaller quantities at shorter and shorter intervals. It seemed to us that eating was tending toward breathing, so, with a mix of culinary art and aerosol science, we’ve helped move eating habits to their logical conclusion. We call it whiffing.”

With chocolate and mocha a favourite flavour profile of nouvelle-vague (new wave) Pinotage, the next step for Pinotage producers like Diemersfontein and KWV (whose Cafe Culture already sells 3 million bottles a year) is to become one of the flavours offered by Dave’s sniffers. For as le whiffers note “chocolate is only the begining… our chocolate inhaler is just the first step in a gastronomic revolution.”

Wow, an entirely new way to eat...by aerosol. -_-
