This is why they traded

Recommended Posts

With the falcons moving up 22 and 20 spots, in those respective rounds, they can now trade up in the 2nd or even 1st round. you got to remember. the falcons will select close to the bottom of each round. except for that early 5th round we got.

this now gives up some leverage when proposing a trade up in the earlier rounds...

5th and 6th rounders are d*mn near worthless. Maybe the two early 5ths AND the 6th could get us an early 4th, but when you are talking about the 1st and 2nd round, 5th and 6th rounders are worth NOTHING.

Loyalty to Michael Jenkins.... the ONLY reason why we traded Robinson.

obviously we exchange or 1st or 2nd with anothers 1st or 2nd. the 5th and 6th is just leverage buy giving them earlier picks in those rounds.. those 5th and 6th rounds werent worthless to TD hes the one who got rid of LR

They didnt want to look dumb when robinson would have been in position to take jenkins out of the #2 spot.. then there prized douglas would be #4 and wed have a high *** paid #3 Jenkins and Douglas sucking at #4 spot.. didnt want to look dumb

You can't be dumb enough to mean that.

As for trading back into the 1st don't hold your breath. There's more value in trading out of the 1st then trading up in it. There's going to be a wealth of talent in the 1st half of the 2nd round and the best part is you don't have to pay 1st round money to get it.

You can get starters out of that 2nd round (See Curtis Lofton for example). There are other players that are there and ready to step in and play right away as well. The biggest key is to wait for that rookie wage scale to get put into effect before those 1st rounders become really valuable.

Someone is thinking. It will take a possible player or next years to trade as high up as I am thinking.

Robinson was the 4th reciever and injury prone, that's why he is gone. There are members here who think that Laurent is a superior player to Harry Douglas, but HD had more meaningful big plays in one game than Robinson has had his entire career. I don't get it.

The move up doesn't help us trading into the 1st or 2nd round. I think the points came out to us trading Robinson for a 7th rounder. It won't help if we are trying to actually trade up more than a few spots. I think it's more likely that we have some mid round guys we want to get.

No one trades up from the 2nd to the 1st even with a 5th and a 6th, and this improvement isn't enough to even think about it. No top round trade. Robinson is one of the new regime cuts/trades that hurts. Just like Darren Stone last year, and to a point Tony Taylor, maybe Milner, Robinson is gone for next to nothing.

But I'm sure the FO knows more of what he really has to offer, the spots we have available, the improvement he can actually make to the team, and of course, his trade value, better than any of us do.

I get what you are trying to say, it seems like some are missing your point. Of course 5th and 6th round picks will not get you in the 1st or second alone, but pair them with the wright picks and they can help you move up.

i think we traded him because we were simply trying to salvage a receiver that obviously didn't fit our blue collar team concept. people act like we could've gotten a 3rd or 4th with him. while he's been here he's had 1 good game. nobody but Falcon fans thought too highly of him. he may just have a great year in St. Louis, where they spread the feel more. but we're in a smash mouth system, where 5 capable receivers just isn't needed. if anything our 4th/5th spot receivers need to be able to contribute to ST, something Weems and Finn do better than LR.
